These are DoorDash’s instructions for U.S. Dashers. DoorDash’s Dasher tax guide also notes that the earliest year available in the selector is 2024.
Who receives a DoorDash 1099-NEC, and when?
DoorDash says U.S. Dashers who earned $600 or more on its platform from January 1 through December 31 receive a 1099-NEC. The company says the prior year’s form is available in the app by January 31.
Rank #2
Dashers who opted out of electronic delivery receive the form by mail. DoorDash says it will be postmarked by January 31 and may take up to 10 business days to arrive. Its guide identifies January 10, 2026 as the opt-out deadline for the 2025 form cycle; that date is specific to that cycle, so check DoorDash’s current instructions for a later tax year.

You earned less than DoorDash’s stated threshold. DoorDash says it does not issue a 1099 when a Dasher earned less than $600 on its platform during the calendar year.
-
The form is not available yet. DoorDash says the prior year’s form should be available by January 31. If you check before then, it may not have appeared.
-
Your app may be out of date. DoorDash says the Tax documents feature may not appear in an older app version. Update the Dasher app and check again.
-
You cannot access or download the document. If the account is deactivated or the problem continues after updating the app, DoorDash directs Dashers to contact Dasher Support.

DoorDash also says to contact Support for a name or taxpayer identification number (TIN) correction after January 31, or for an address change to a different state.

The $600 figure is DoorDash’s stated threshold for issuing its form, not the IRS filing threshold. The IRS says gig income must be reported even when a business does not send a Form 1099. It also says a federal return is required when net self-employment earnings are $400 or more. These are separate rules: whether DoorDash issues a form does not determine whether income is reportable. See the IRS guidance on managing taxes for gig work for details.
If you live and work in Puerto Rico
DoorDash describes a separate process for Dashers who live and work in Puerto Rico: they receive Form 480.6SP, which can be retrieved through Puerto Rico’s SURI portal. The U.S. Dasher app instructions above concern the 1099-NEC process, not this Puerto Rico form.
