How Do I Mark an Item as Purchased on an Amazon Registry?

Open the gift’s listing from the Amazon registry and look for an item-level option such as “Mark item as purchased.” A user report says that marking a gift bought elsewhere may prompt for the store and quantity, but Amazon’s current registry-specific steps are not confirmed for every registry type or interface.

Mark the gift from its registry listing

1. Open the Amazon registry and locate the gift item.

2. Open the item’s details and look for a control labeled “Mark item as purchased” or similar.

3. If the gift was bought at another store, follow any prompt shown for the store and quantity. One user report describes those fields, but this is anecdotal rather than a verified universal Amazon workflow.

Start from the item within the registry rather than from Amazon’s general list settings. If no purchase control appears, try opening the registry on Amazon’s website or in the app, then check the current help page for that registry type or contact Amazon support.

Why Wish List instructions may not apply

Amazon Associates Central documents a purchased-item workflow for Wish Lists: open “Add comments, quantity and priority,” set the “has” quantity to 1, and filter for purchased items (Amazon Associates Central’s Wish List example). That is documentation for Wish Lists, not confirmation of the owner- or guest-facing steps for wedding or baby registry items.

Amazon’s general Lists help explains list creation and management, while its Data Portability documentation describes gift-list purchase data. Neither provides a current end-user walkthrough for marking an Amazon registry gift purchased.
