Steps to find your Cash App routing number
- Open the Cash App.
- Tap the Money tab.
- Tap your Cash balance.
- Find the account-details section showing your full routing number and account number.
Copy the numbers directly from your own Cash App account. Do not use a number from Google, an old article, a bank directory, or another person’s account. Cash App’s published instructions are available in its account and routing number guidance.

| Account number | Identifies your individual Cash App deposit account. |
| Cash App Card number | Identifies your debit card for card purchases. It is not your routing or account number. |
| Cashtag | Your Cash App username for peer-to-peer payments. It is not a routing or account number. |
If an employer asks for routing and account numbers, do not submit your card number, CVV, PIN, Cashtag, or login details.
Do you need a Cash App Card?
According to Cash App’s current published guidance, a Cash App Card is required to use the account and routing numbers for direct deposit. This is separate from having a basic Cash App profile for sending or receiving peer-to-peer payments.
If the account details are unavailable, Cash App’s published card-order path is:
- Tap Money.
- Tap Get your free card or Design a new card.
- Tap Continue.
- Follow the instructions in the app.
Ordering the card does not guarantee that the routing and account numbers will appear immediately. Availability can depend on verification, eligibility, account type, and Cash App’s current requirements.

What can you use the numbers for?
Where the recipient accepts Cash App’s account, routing and account numbers may be used for:
- Employer payroll direct deposit
- Tax refunds and other government payments
- Certain benefits, including unemployment payments
- Eligible electronic transfers
- Some bill payments or automatic payments that support ACH details
Cash App’s terms of service state that users may direct employer or other payments to their Cash App Balance through its direct-deposit program. Acceptance is still controlled by the employer, agency, biller, or other payer.
How to use the numbers for payroll direct deposit
- Copy the routing number and account number from the Cash App account-details screen.
- Enter them in your employer’s payroll portal or direct-deposit form.
- For the account type, select the option Cash App or the employer’s instructions specify. Do not guess if the form requires information that Cash App has not provided.
- If the form asks for a bank name, use the institution or bank name shown in Cash App’s direct-deposit information or account documentation. Do not automatically enter “Cash App” as the bank.
- Confirm the first deposit with your employer or payroll department.
Cash App is a financial-services platform, not a bank. Banking services and card products are provided through partner institutions, and the applicable institution can vary by product or account arrangement. Cash App’s public materials mention Sutton Bank, The Bancorp Bank, N.A., and Wells Fargo Bank, N.A. for certain services; that list should not be used to guess your bank or routing number. Use the information attached to your own account.

Is there one Cash App routing number for everyone?
Do not assume that every Cash App user has the same routing number. Cash App has multiple partner institutions and products, and online examples may be outdated or apply only to certain accounts.

The routing number displayed in your own Cash App account is the authoritative number for your account. The same rule applies if you previously used Cash App for direct deposit: recheck the current details before changing payroll, tax, or government-payment records.
Cash App routing number not showing? Try these fixes
- Make sure you are in the Money tab, not Activity, Profile, or Linked banks.
- Tap your Cash App Cash balance, not the balance or details for a linked external bank.
- Check whether you have ordered or activated a Cash App Card.
- Complete any identity-verification or account-security prompts.
- Update Cash App through your device’s official app store.
- Close and reopen the app, then sign in again.
- If the details still do not appear, use Cash App’s official in-app support flow or visit cash.app/help.
Older screenshots and articles may refer to a Banking tab or different labels. Cash App’s current published path uses Money and Cash balance, although app navigation can change.
What if an employer or payer rejects the information?
Rejection does not necessarily mean the numbers are wrong. Common causes include:

- A routing or account digit was entered incorrectly.
- The Cash App Card number was submitted instead of the deposit-account number.
- The employer requires a bank name or account type taken from Cash App’s direct-deposit documentation.
- The account is not eligible or has not completed required verification.
- Payroll is using outdated information saved from a previous setup.
Reopen Cash App and compare every digit with the submitted form. Display or download the direct-deposit information Cash App provides, if that option is available in your account. Ask payroll whether it supports ACH deposits to Cash App, then contact Cash App through its official support channel if the details appear correct.

If the employer or payment provider will not accept Cash App, use a conventional checking account or another deposit account it approves. Cash App advertises some direct deposits as arriving up to two days early, but early availability is not guaranteed and should not be treated as a substitute for payer acceptance or a guaranteed payment date.

Cash App says its routing and account numbers can be used for tax refunds and other government payments, including certain federal and state payments. The agency must accept the account, and its own identity, eligibility, account, and timing rules still apply.
Before submitting information for a tax refund, verify the routing and account numbers directly in Cash App. The IRS advises taxpayers to confirm routing and account information with their financial institution.

Is Cash App a bank?
No. Cash App says it is not a bank; it is a financial-services platform that works with partner institutions. The applicable bank or issuer can differ by product and account arrangement. For that reason, use the bank and routing information shown for your own Cash App account rather than calling Cash App itself the bank or selecting a partner name from an online list.

Can you use this routing number to transfer money to your linked bank?
No. The Cash App routing and account numbers are used to direct eligible deposits or withdrawals to your Cash App Balance. To move money from Cash App to an external bank, use the app’s linked-bank transfer flow. Your linked bank’s routing number is separate from your Cash App routing number.
Is it safe to share your routing number?
Routing and account numbers are banking details used for ACH deposits and withdrawals. Share them only when necessary with a trusted employer, government agency, biller, or financial institution, and avoid posting them publicly.
They are not the same as your Cash App login, password, PIN, card number, CVV, or security code. Never share a login code, PIN, or password with someone who claims to need your routing number. Verify unexpected requests independently using an official phone number or website.
