The available reports do not state what Liverpool or United would have paid him. They do give two comparison points: a third-party estimate of £3,500 a week at Bristol City in 2022, and a December 2025 report that his Manchester City basic salary would be about £150,000 a week, plus incentives.
What is known about Semenyo’s wages?
Manchester City’s announcement confirmed the transfer and contract length but did not disclose salary terms. The club’s announcement also recounts his development at Bristol City and subsequent career.
Before the move was completed, The Irish Times reported that Semenyo was expected to earn a basic salary of about £150,000 a week at City, with incentives on top. That is a media report, not a salary figure published by the club. The Irish Times report, published 30 December 2025, described the expected terms over a five-year contract.
How does that compare with his Bristol City wage?
SalarySport lists an estimated £3,500 per week for Semenyo at Bristol City in 2022. This is a historical database estimate, not an official club disclosure, and it does not verify his exact wage throughout his Bristol City spell. SalarySport’s listing is the available comparison point.

| Club or scenario | Weekly amount | Source status | What it does not establish |

| Bristol City, 2022 | £3,500 | SalarySport estimate | His exact official wage or the amount for every season at the club |
| Manchester City, reported before the move | About £150,000 basic, plus incentives | The Irish Times report of 30 December 2025 | An officially disclosed salary or the value of incentives |

Comparing the Bristol City estimate with the reported City basic wage, £150,000 is about 42.9 times £3,500, a difference of roughly £146,500 per week. This arithmetic compares figures from different periods and sources; it is not an estimate of a Liverpool or United offer.

No salary offer from either club is established by the available reporting. The Premier League said Liverpool and Manchester United were among the clubs that enquired about Bournemouth’s reported £65 million release clause. That figure concerns a transfer clause, not Semenyo’s pay, and an enquiry about the clause does not show that a club made a contract proposal. The Premier League’s 9 January 2026 feature says City’s interest became concrete.

Manchester City announced the completed signing from Bournemouth on a five-and-a-half-year deal through 2031. As a result, a Liverpool-versus-United wage comparison remains a counterfactual: the available sources provide no salary terms from either club to compare with his Bristol City estimate.
