Its featured activation, “Chat’s Civic Mods,” invited viewers to customize a 2025 Honda Civic hybrid through chat polls. The reveal and a planned vehicle giveaway were scheduled for TwitchCon 2024; those event dates have passed, and Honda’s announcement does not establish that the giveaway is still available.
What Honda’s Twitch Rivals partnership involved
Honda described the agreement as a year-round partnership intended to expand its presence in gaming and esports. “Exclusive automotive partner” refers to Honda’s sponsorship role with Twitch Rivals; it does not mean that the automaker owns or operates the platform.
Honda manager Megan Amic called the deal a next step in the company’s relationship with the gaming community, which she said had begun more than 10 years earlier. Amazon Ads Head of Properties Lou Garate said the partnership would let Honda support creators and connect with the Twitch Rivals community.
How “Chat’s Civic Mods” was supposed to work
The announced campaign centered on a multi-episode interactive segment. Viewers could vote in chat polls to digitally customize a 2025 Civic hybrid sedan. Honda planned to reveal the resulting design at TwitchCon 2024 in San Diego, held September 20–22, and said the custom-designed hybrid would be given to a Twitch community member during the convention weekend.

The Civic hybrid Honda featured
Honda’s July 2024 release described the 2025 Civic hybrid as available in sedan and hatchback body styles and rated it at 200 horsepower. Honda said it was expected to achieve an EPA combined fuel-economy rating of nearly 50 mpg. That figure was an anticipated rating in the announcement, not a verified result; Honda also noted that actual mileage varies with driving and maintenance, conditions, and other factors.

How the sponsorship fits Honda’s gaming history
Honda’s gaming background includes projects involving Forza, Guitar Hero Live and Hearthstone Team Brawl, as well as a relationship with Team Liquid. It has also operated Twitch channels named Honda Head2Head and Honda DreamLab. Those efforts provide context for Honda’s description of a growing gaming relationship, but they are separate from the Twitch Rivals partnership.
In its July 15, 2024 announcement, American Honda Motor Co., Inc. said 70% of Honda’s Twitch community was ages 18–34. That was Honda’s description of its own community, not a statistic about Twitch viewers overall.
