Team Cherry’s latest official figure is higher than six million: in a Dec. 15, 2025 post, the developer said more than seven million people had purchased Hollow Knight: Silksong. It separately said millions more were playing through Xbox Game Pass, which are not included in that purchase figure. Team Cherry’s announcement does not give an exact total or a more precise date for when the seven-million threshold was crossed.
How many copies of Hollow Knight: Silksong has Team Cherry confirmed?
Team Cherry said that over seven million people had purchased Hollow Knight: Silksong in its Dec. 15, 2025 update. That is the newest official sales figure identified here, and it supersedes the six-million milestone in the headline as a current total. The statement comes from Team Cherry, with Ari Gibson credited as its author; it is a developer-reported figure, not an analyst estimate. It does not break sales down by platform, digital versus physical copies, or refunds.
Are Game Pass players included in the sales figure?
No. Team Cherry distinguishes people who purchased the game from “millions more” playing on Xbox Game Pass. The Game Pass audience is a separate access measure, not additional paid copies in the over-seven-million count. The developer did not quantify those subscribers, so the statement cannot be used to calculate a combined number of purchasers and players.

When and where was Silksong released?
Steam’s listing identifies Sept. 4, 2025 as the release date and Team Cherry as developer and publisher. Team Cherry lists the game for PC, Mac, Linux, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on its games page. Physical-edition availability depends on the platform and retailer; check the linked official listing for current regional options.
Steam describes the game as a single-player action-adventure starring Hornet in Pharloom. Its product description also advertises more than 200 foes, more than 40 bosses, crafted tools, and Steel Soul mode; those are claims from the storefront description, not independent measurements.

What is coming next?
Team Cherry announced Sea of Sorrow, described as its first major Silksong expansion. The Dec. 15, 2025 announcement says it will be free for all players in 2026 and will add new areas, bosses, tools, and more. It did not provide a specific release date. Its Dec. 15, 2025 post also announced Silksong mini-figurines by artist Alex Colvin of Studio Tyto and Fangamer, depicting Hornet, friends, and rivals, with separate US/worldwide and EU/UK ordering links at the time. Current stock, prices, shipping terms, and regional availability are not established by that announcement; confirm them with the linked retailer before purchasing.

Steam’s product page also lists a digital soundtrack as downloadable content. That listing supports the digital soundtrack option, not a physical soundtrack edition. For fan-made merchandise, Team Cherry’s FAQ allows certain small-batch or one-off original works under restrictions, but says it does not license private businesses to sell merchandise based on its properties and does not permit game-related merchandise on mass-distribution sites such as Redbubble.
