The archive says the underlying records were filed with a court on October 10, 2002. It describes a chart of wrestlers under WCW contracts during 1996–2000 that includes salary, merchandising revenue, and licensing revenue. The figures below are the chart’s reported totals, not independently audited earnings or confirmed lifetime income. Wrestlenomics’ archive and transcription provides the source description and figures.

How much did Hulk Hogan make in WCW?
Hogan’s reported total in the available 1996–mid-2000 comparison is $13,171,042, including salary, licensing, and merchandising revenue. It should not be described as his total earnings over every year he worked for WCW: the records cited here cover only a portion of the promotion’s history, and the archive does not establish that every possible compensation stream is included for each wrestler.

Why this is not a definitive all-time ranking
WCW operated beyond the records’ stated period, but the available table does not establish compensation for earlier years or a complete career total for any wrestler. It supports a narrower conclusion: Hogan ranks first among the wrestlers listed in this 1996–mid-2000 compensation comparison.
It also matters what is being compared. A contract guarantee is not necessarily the same measure as compensation recorded in a payroll table. Likewise, an individual year’s pay cannot be compared as if it represented the same length of time for wrestlers with different WCW tenures. This table ranks its combined reported totals over the stated period, rather than annualized pay or guaranteed contract value.

How to read wrestler pay claims
Public salary lists can circulate without clear sourcing. In a March 26, 2025 resource, Fightful warns that some widely shared top-ten wrestler pay figures have been inaccurate and describes its reference as a compilation of disclosed figures with sources. That general caution does not independently verify or disprove the WCW transcription. Fightful’s wrestler-pay resource illustrates why a pay claim should be read alongside its source, date range, and definition of compensation.
