Forbes Australia’s ranking covers ten golfers across eight rank positions because three players are tied at No. 7. What the income figures include
Forbes estimates income over the 12 months dating to the 2025 U.S. Open. Its on-course category includes prize money, PGA Tour bonuses and annual LIV Golf payments carried over from original deals. Forbes says it consulted more than a dozen industry experts about LIV payments. Its estimates assume top-tier players received half their guarantees up front, with the rest generally paid in equal annual installments over four-year contracts; lower-tier players received smaller sums in bulk.
Off-course estimates cover sponsorship deals, appearance fees, memorabilia and licensing income during the period, plus cash returns from businesses in which a golfer has a significant interest. Forbes excludes investment income such as interest and dividends, but includes payouts from equity stakes athletes have sold. The estimates do not subtract taxes or agents’ fees, so they are not a measure of what a golfer takes home.

Forbes says, “All figures are rounded to the nearest $1 million.” That rounding and the estimated nature of the underlying figures matter: the list is a reported income ranking, not an audited accounting of each player’s finances.
Why Rahm leads—and why prize money alone changes the picture
Rahm’s $111 million estimate includes $50 million in estimated LIV contract payments during the period and an $18 million bonus for winning the 2025 individual championship. Forbes puts his total on-course income at $101 million and off-course income at $10 million.

The split for other players shows why this is not simply a prize-money leaderboard. Forbes estimates Scheffler’s off-course income at $30 million and McIlroy’s at $50 million. Woods is fifth overall despite an estimated $1 million on-course; Forbes attributes $45 million of his $46 million total to off-course income. Fleetwood is the only newcomer to the top ten compared with the previous year’s Forbes list.
How the top ten compares with prior Forbes lists
Forbes reports that the ten golfers in its 2026 list earned a combined estimated $536 million. That is 12% below the $612 million total in its 2025 list and 29% below the $752 million record in its 2023 list. These are Forbes estimates for the respective lists, not official tour totals.

How this differs from official PGA Tour money
A total-income ranking and an official-money table answer different questions. Forbes includes estimated income from multiple sources and players from different tours. The PGA Tour’s official-money statistics cover PGA Tour members and official money earned year to date; they do not represent the same period, player population or income categories. For a sound comparison, check the measurement period, which tours and players are included, whether bonuses and guarantees count, whether endorsements and business income count, and whether figures are gross estimates or net amounts. The PGA Tour’s official-money page is a narrower measure, not an alternative version of Forbes’ total-income ranking.
