Hero MotoCorp, Samsonite and Philips Report Strong Amazon Great Indian Festival 2026 Sales

Hero MotoCorp, Samsonite and Philips reported strong opening-period sales during Amazon India’s Great Indian Festival 2026, while reports also pointed to substantial EMI use. The figures are not all measured over the same period: Amazon’s official results cover the first 12 hours, while brand-specific numbers reported by Fortune India use different windows. They show a busy opening, but do not establish that EMI use caused the sales surge.

What Amazon says about the festival opening

Amazon India said products ordered during the first 12 hours of the Great Indian Festival 2026 were up more than 100% year over year. It also said customers from every Indian pin code placed an order. These are company-reported opening-period results, not independently audited consumer data. Amazon’s official results announcement was published October 9, 2026.

Fortune India reported that the sale drew more than 440 million visits in its initial phase. That figure is from Fortune India’s October 11 report and should not be treated as the same measure as Amazon’s first-12-hours order growth. Fortune India’s account also includes brand-level figures attributed to company reporting.

Which brands reported the strongest gains?

Hero MotoCorp: scooters and motorcycles

Fortune India reported that Hero MotoCorp sales on Amazon reached 30 times a regular day during the sale’s first 48 hours. The Destini 125 scooter and Xtreme 125R motorcycle were identified as leading models. More than 70% of Hero MotoCorp orders reportedly came from tier-2 and tier-3 cities and towns. These are figures reported by Fortune India, not numbers confirmed in Amazon’s official first-12-hours announcement.

Samsonite and American Tourister: luggage

Fortune India reported 60% year-over-year growth for American Tourister in the first 24 hours and 200% growth for premium Samsonite. The report does not identify individual luggage models, and the brand-specific figures are not independently confirmed in Amazon’s official results announcement.

Philips: two reported sales multiples

The Philips figures differ by source: Fortune India reported appliance sales at 10 times a regular day, while Amazon’s official release said Philips sales were 9 times a regular day. The two accounts do not establish identical measurement periods, so the numbers should remain separately attributed rather than treated as a direct discrepancy or combined into one result.

What the EMI figures do—and do not—show

Amazon’s official release says one in two customers shopped using EMI during the first 12 hours. Fortune India separately reported that more than one in three customers opted for EMIs. The reports may refer to different periods or measures; neither provides enough detail to reconcile the figures as a single rate.

Fortune India also reported that Amazon Pay Later EMI transactions doubled year over year. That is a reported change in transactions using that payment option, not evidence that all EMI use doubled or that financing caused the shopping increase. Amazon’s announcement describes financing alongside other value offers, including instant bank discounts, exchange offers and no-cost EMI, but does not isolate the effect of any one offer.

How to read the headline numbers

Because these figures mix year-over-year growth, multiples of a regular day, customer shares and transaction growth—and use different stated or unstated periods—they are not interchangeable measures. They establish reported opening activity and payment uptake, not the reason individual shoppers bought.
