Kelley Blue Book estimates that a 2022 Ford Maverick lost $8,255, or 29%, in value over three years. KBB’s current estimated private-party resale value is $19,500; its estimated trade-in value is $18,050. These are model-year-specific estimates, not guaranteed offers or the amount every Maverick owner will lose.
Three-year depreciation estimates differ by model year
KBB’s current figures show why the model year and valuation type matter. The 2022 and 2023 estimates are separate calculations; they should not be averaged together because they do not describe the same vehicle cohort or starting values.
| Model year | Estimated depreciation over three years | Current estimated private-party resale value | Current estimated trade-in value |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2022 | $8,255 (29%) | $19,500 | $18,050 |
| 2023 | $9,009 (28%) | $22,100 | $17,900 |
Figures are Kelley Blue Book estimates from its model-year depreciation pages, accessed in 2026: 2022 Ford Maverick and 2023 Ford Maverick. The percentages and dollar losses are the estimated depreciation; the resale and trade-in amounts are current estimated values, not additional losses.
Private sale and trade-in are different values
For the 2022 Maverick, KBB’s estimated trade-in value is $1,450 below its estimated private-party resale value. That difference reflects distinct valuation measures: a trade-in estimate is not a prediction of what a private buyer will pay. Use the value type that matches your plan, and treat either number as a starting estimate rather than a firm quote.

What can change your Maverick’s estimate?
KBB says its depreciation estimates draw on comparable vehicles’ private-party values over time and Manheim auction forecasts compared with current KBB values. It also cautions that the estimates are not guarantees. Condition, mileage, location, local weather, market factors and driver performance can affect actual depreciation; trim, equipment and drivetrain also distinguish individual vehicles. The published figures do not establish separate three-year depreciation rates for specific trims, engines or drivetrains.
For context, Ford’s 2022 Maverick technical specifications list a 2.5-liter hybrid with front-wheel drive and a 2.0-liter EcoBoost with front- or all-wheel drive. Those specifications describe the 2022 model year; they do not show how much more or less any configuration depreciates.

How to use the estimate when selling or trading
- Choose the right model year. Start with the KBB page for your Maverick’s model year; do not substitute the 2023 estimate for a 2022 truck.
- Select the value type that fits the transaction. Use a private-party estimate to frame a possible direct sale and a trade-in estimate when discussing a dealer trade. They are not interchangeable.
- Account for your specific truck. Compare the estimate with your vehicle’s mileage, condition, location, trim and equipment. The cited figures do not produce an individualized offer.
- Get a transaction-specific figure before committing. Ask a dealer for a trade-in offer or assess likely private-sale proceeds for your vehicle. A general depreciation estimate cannot guarantee the amount you will receive.
Resale awards are not a three-year price guarantee
KBB named the Maverick its Compact Pickup Truck winner in both its 2023 Best Resale Value Awards and 2025 Best Resale Value Awards. These awards are based on projected residual value, not a guarantee of an individual truck’s realized sale price or proof that every Maverick depreciates at a particular rate.
Other forecast tables should also be read on their own terms. CarEdge’s Ford Maverick depreciation table uses an assumed 13,500 miles per year and provides future resale projections, so it is not a like-for-like replacement for KBB’s three-year historical estimates.
