Henry T. Nicholas III’s net worth is not established by a verified public balance sheet. Celebrity Net Worth lists an estimate of $22 billion on a page updated September 13, 2026; the Orange County Business Journal reported Forbes’s 2025 estimate of $21.3 billion. These are separate estimates, not confirmed current totals, and public reporting does not establish Nicholas’s present Broadcom shareholdings.
How much is Henry Nicholas worth?
The available estimates put Nicholas’s wealth in the range of roughly $21 billion to $22 billion, but neither figure is a verified accounting of his assets and liabilities. Celebrity Net Worth lists $22 billion and marks its page as updated September 13, 2026. The Orange County Business Journal reported Forbes’s 2025 estimate as $21.3 billion. The publishers and dates differ, and the materials available do not provide comparable methodologies for judging which estimate is more accurate.
| Publisher and date | Published estimate | What the figure establishes |
|---|---|---|
| Forbes estimate, as reported by the Orange County Business Journal in 2025 | $21.3 billion | An attributed annual estimate; not a verified personal balance sheet. The Business Journal raises uncertainty about the treatment of Nicholas’s 2008 divorce and his current Broadcom holdings. |
| Celebrity Net Worth, page updated September 13, 2026 | $22 billion | A later secondary estimate; the page does not establish a verified balance sheet or resolve the ownership questions raised by the Business Journal. |
| Orange County Business Journal, December 3, 2019 profile | $4 billion | A historical estimate. It should not be read as a directly comparable point in a consistently calculated series. |
Where did Henry Nicholas’s wealth come from?
Broadcom
Nicholas and Henry Samueli established Broadcom in 1991 and took the company public in 1998. The company became the central source of wealth attributed to Nicholas in published estimates. In 2016, Avago acquired Broadcom in a transaction valued at $37 billion, according to the Orange County Business Journal. That figure is the value of the company transaction, not Nicholas’s personal proceeds or current net worth.
The acquisition history helps explain why estimates focus on Broadcom, but it cannot determine how much wealth Nicholas holds today. The Business Journal said Nicholas was not mentioned in Broadcom’s 2025 proxy and that it was not publicly known whether he still owned Broadcom shares. The absence of a mention in that proxy is not proof that he holds no shares.

Why the estimates remain uncertain
A net-worth estimate depends on the assets and liabilities attributed to a person at a particular time. The reviewed reporting does not establish Nicholas’s current share count, complete asset and liability breakdown, or the methods used to calculate the two recent estimates. The Business Journal also identifies Nicholas’s 2008 divorce as a possible source of difference in Forbes’s estimate, but does not quantify its effect. Celebrity Net Worth’s later figure does not settle these questions.
The older $4 billion estimate illustrates how sharply published figures can differ across years; it does not show a reliably measured increase from 2019 to the later estimates, because the available sources do not establish consistent methodology.

What is known about Nicholas’s philanthropy?
The Orange County Business Journal reports that Nicholas co-founded the Nicholas Academic Centers with retired Orange County Superior Court Judge Jack K. Mandel in 2008 and donated $57.7 million to support three locations. The publication also describes the Henry T. Nicholas, III Foundation as supporting crime-victims’ rights organizations. These are reported philanthropic activities, not amounts that can be mechanically subtracted from either net-worth estimate.
