The announced transaction value was €2.1 billion. Henkel’s February 4 agreement announcement calls it the purchase price, while Stahl’s announcement describes the same amount as enterprise value. The announcements do not disclose a final closing adjustment or a breakdown of the consideration, so the €2.1 billion figure should be reported with the source’s terminology rather than treated as a confirmed final cash payment.

What does Stahl make?
Stahl is a global supplier of high-performance specialty coatings for flexible materials. Henkel’s closing announcement identifies leather finishing solutions, performance coatings and packaging coatings among its offerings. The named markets include mobility, fashion and lifestyle, luxury, and packaging.
What does the deal add to Henkel?
Henkel says the acquisition extends its Adhesive Technologies business into the adjacent specialty-coatings category. Its stated rationale is to combine Stahl’s coatings capabilities with Henkel’s global adhesives expertise and offer a broader range of solutions. These are strategic aims, not evidence that the acquisition has already produced growth, synergies or sustainability results.

Henkel CEO Carsten Knobel called the closing “another important milestone” in the company’s growth agenda and in strengthening Adhesive Technologies. Mark Dorn, the executive responsible for the business unit, described Stahl’s model as asset-light, know-how-based and service-driven, and highlighted its customization capabilities and sustainability focus. Those comments are management assessments.

Henkel’s October 1, 2026 closing release reports that Stahl had around 1,800 employees globally and adjusted sales of €725 million in fiscal 2025. Henkel’s earlier February agreement announcement gave an estimate of around 1,700 employees; the later closing release is the source for the updated workforce figure.
