What HCL advertised in 2024
HCL’s Advertisement No. Estt./1/2023/2024-25, dated October 3, 2024, announced 19 vacancies across management grades and disciplines. The notice described HCL as a vertically integrated, multi-unit, Schedule-A Miniratna Category-I Central Public Sector Enterprise. The vacancies below are figures from that specific notice, not general employment totals.

Application dates and status
Online applications began October 14, 2024 at 11:00 AM. The original notice set November 4, 2024 as the closing date; Amendment 2 extended the final deadline to November 21, 2024 at midnight. HCL’s careers page showed later recruitment notices when checked on October 8, 2026, so this 2024 application window is not active.
Qualifications and eligibility
HCL reckoned age, experience, and qualifications as of October 1, 2024. Eligibility was post-specific: a qualification suitable for one discipline did not automatically qualify a candidate for another. These examples illustrate the differences; applicants needed to use the complete criteria in the official recruitment notice.

- DGM, Company Secretary: required ICSI membership and at least three years of the specified experience in a company listed on NSE and/or BSE.
- Deputy Manager, Survey: required a Mining or Civil Engineering degree with a Surveyors Certificate of Competency, or an M.Tech in Geomatics.
- Deputy Manager, R&D: required a Chemical Engineering/Technology degree or a postgraduate Chemistry qualification.
- Deputy Manager, M&C: required an eligible degree plus a postgraduate qualification or diploma in Materials Management, or an MBA specialization in it.
- Management Trainees: each discipline had its own subject qualification and marks requirements; one general qualification rule cannot be applied across HR, Finance, Law, and M&C.
Final-year students could apply for Management Trainee posts if otherwise eligible, provided they had no backlog papers at course end. They had to submit qualifying results by June 30, 2025. The notice’s complete post-wise criteria also governed experience and age limits.
How selection worked
The selection route depended on the post. HCL assigned the following weight to each stage in its 2024 notice:

For shortlisting through the CBT, the notice set minimum qualifying marks of 30% for General/OBC candidates and 20% for SC/ST/PwBD candidates. It did not provide a subject-by-subject CBT syllabus, so candidates should not assume particular test sections or prescribed books based on this notice alone.

The application was online through HCL’s careers page. The notice directed candidates to register, enter education and contact information, and keep the generated application and acknowledgement slip. It advised applicants to enter the exact percentage rather than round marks and to apply well before the closing date. HCL stated: “The candidates are advised to submit the Online Recruitment Applications well in advance without waiting for the closing date. No manual / paper application will be entertained.”

- Processing fee: Rs. 500 for General, OBC, and EWS applicants, plus applicable bank charges. SC/ST/PwBD and internal candidates were exempt. The fee was non-refundable.
- Photograph and signature: application instructions called for a recent color passport photograph measuring 3.5 x 4.5 cm and under 50 KB, and a black-ink scanned signature under 50 KB. Follow the notice’s accepted image formats.
- Supporting records: candidates needed evidence of qualifications, experience, and claimed category status for verification.
- Additional email for specified posts: DGM Company Secretary and Deputy Manager Survey, R&D, and M&C applicants also had to email a copy of the online application, acknowledgement, and eligibility testimonials to [email protected] by the closing date.
Because the deadline has passed, these requirements apply as historical details of the 2024 notice, not as a route to submit a late application.
