“Harmony Ether” is not the official token name identified in Harmony’s documentation. ETH bridged from Ethereum to Harmony is represented there as 1ETH; Harmony’s native token is ONE. If you want to move ETH between the two networks, use Harmony’s bridge and check the route, token details, destination liquidity and live fees before approving anything.
What does “Harmony Ether” mean?
The phrase appears in a TechBullion article published August 13, 2024, describing a combination of Harmony and Ethereum. That is the article’s wording, not an official standalone token name established by Harmony. Harmony’s documentation calls ETH bridged from Ethereum 1ETH. Do not confuse it with ONE, Harmony’s native token.
1ETH is a mapped representation of ETH on Harmony, not ETH on Ethereum itself. Bridged assets have network-specific token representations and addresses; similarly named assets are not automatically interchangeable. Harmony advises users to verify the token and its address on both networks, and to check that the destination asset has suitable liquidity before transferring.
How to bridge ETH from Ethereum to Harmony
Harmony’s bridge tutorial describes a wallet-based transfer using MetaMask. The available assets and interface may change, so confirm the current route and token listing in the bridge before proceeding.

- Open Harmony’s bridge and select the transfer direction from Ethereum to Harmony.
- Connect MetaMask and select the token listed for transfer. Check the displayed token addresses on both networks and confirm the destination network and token are the ones you intend to use.
- Enter the amount. Review the bridge’s live fee notice and any transaction details shown before confirming.
- Sign the requested wallet transactions. A transfer can require wallet confirmation on the sending chain and additional transaction steps shown by the bridge.
- After the transfer, check the Harmony-side balance. You may need to add the received token to your wallet to display it.
Harmony’s bridge guidance explains that a token’s address may differ on the destination network. Do not rely on a token name or symbol alone: verify the address, network and destination liquidity before signing.
Fees and network settings to check
Harmony’s bridge FAQ says fees include the bridge fee and transaction costs, and are paid in the sending chain’s native token: ETH when sending from Ethereum, or ONE when sending from Harmony. The actual amount is not a fixed quote; review the bridge’s live fee disclosure before approving the transfer.

If you need to add Harmony Mainnet to MetaMask manually, Harmony’s setup page lists the RPC URL https://api.harmony.one and Shard 0 chain ID 1666600000. Wallet settings and endpoints can change. Verify the current values against Harmony’s MetaMask setup documentation before entering them.
How to move 1ETH off Harmony safely
To return bridged ETH to Ethereum, use the bridge route back to the asset’s source network. Harmony describes bridged assets as mapped tokens and advises bridging them back to their origin. Do not send 1ETH directly to a different blockchain or an exchange address: Harmony warns that doing so may cause permanent loss.

Before any transfer, confirm that the bridge supports the intended route, that the token is the correct mapped asset, and that you can cover the sending network’s fee in its native token. Harmony’s documentation says mapped tokens associated with different origin networks are distinct, not interchangeable.

- Route: Check the source and destination networks shown by the bridge.
- Asset: Confirm the token symbol and the displayed addresses for both networks; for ETH bridged from Ethereum, Harmony identifies the destination representation as 1ETH.
- Liquidity: Make sure the destination token can be used or exchanged as you intend.
- Fees: Read the current fee disclosure and ensure you have the sending chain’s native token to pay it.
- Wallet requests: Review each transaction and sign only the actions you intended to initiate.
- Return route: Use the bridge to return a mapped asset to its source network rather than sending it directly to another chain or exchange.
Bridge availability, supported assets, addresses, liquidity, fees and network configuration can change. Check the live bridge and Harmony’s current documentation before transacting; the cited Harmony tutorial was last updated about one year before the research date, and its documentation pages may not reflect every later change.
