FXTM announced Han Tan’s appointment as a Market Analyst in April 2019, adding a Southeast Asia-focused financial broadcaster to its Market Research team. FXTM’s biography indicates that he had actually joined the company in January 2019.

The appointment gave FXTM a regional, on-camera analyst who could explain local and international market developments, contribute macroeconomic analysis and support the broker’s investor-education programme. It should be treated as a historical appointment, however: current 2026 sources identify Han Tan as Chief Market Analyst at Bybit, not as a current FXTM analyst.

What role did Han Tan take at FXTM?

Han Tan joined FXTM as a Market Analyst focused on Southeast Asia. The announcement, published in April 2019, described him as the newest member of FXTM’s Market Research team and as a regional voice for the company.

His responsibilities were broader than producing written market commentary. FXTM expected him to represent the brand on camera, discuss local and international financial news, provide macroeconomic analysis and create educational insights for its global client base. He was also expected to participate in FXTM’s educational events and other client-learning initiatives.

FXTM said it had planned more than 200 educational events globally during 2019. That figure referred to the company’s programme for that year and should not be read as a current annual target.

When did Han Tan join FXTM?

There are two relevant dates:

Event Date What it means
Start date stated in an FXTM biography January 2019 FXTM’s regional biography says Han joined the company during this month.
Public appointment announcement April 2019 FXTM’s recruitment announcement was published in April; syndicated coverage appeared on April 19, while FXEmpire lists April 21 as its update date.

The clearest wording is therefore: Han Tan joined FXTM in January 2019, and FXTM announced his appointment publicly in April 2019.

Han Tan’s background before FXTM

At the time of the appointment, FXTM described Han as a financial journalist and producer with more than six years of experience covering Southeast Asian and international business news.

His previous media affiliations included Bloomberg TV Malaysia and Malaysian business radio station BFM. He reported for Bloomberg TV Malaysia programmes including Moving Malaysia and Dashboard. The Star had also identified him as a senior reporter on the Bloomberg TV Malaysia team in its coverage of Malaysia’s 2016 budget.

His work included interviewing prominent economic and public-policy figures. FXTM specifically noted interviews with Muhammad Yunus, the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize winner, as well as panel moderation involving representatives from Bank Negara Malaysia and the World Bank Malaysia.

Han earned a Communications degree from Liberty University in Virginia in 2006.

Who was on FXTM’s research team in 2019?

The 2019 announcement placed Han alongside three other named members of FXTM’s research operation:

  • Jameel Ahmad, Global Head of Currency Strategy and Market Research;
  • Hussein Sayed, Chief Market Strategist and CNBC Arabia anchor; and
  • Lukman Otunuga, Research Analyst.

This was the team structure described in the 2019 announcement. It is not a reliable description of FXTM’s current analyst lineup. FXTM’s current public team page has changed and lists Lukman Otunuga and Matthew Anthony, but not Han Tan.

How Han Tan’s FXTM title later changed

Later FXTM biographies no longer described Han simply as a Market Analyst. They identified him as Chief Market Analyst, with some pages using the broader title “Chief Market Analyst at Exinity Group.” FXTM is an Exinity brand, but the original announcement concerned his appointment to FXTM’s Market Research team.

That distinction matters when reading archived biographies. A profile that remains visible on an FXTM website can preserve an old job title or biography without proving that the person is still employed by the company.

Is Han Tan still an FXTM analyst?

Available current evidence indicates that he is not. Han Tan’s public LinkedIn profile says he completed an almost seven-year chapter with Exinity before beginning a new role. Current 2026 media coverage and Bybit materials identify him as Chief Market Analyst at Bybit.

Some FXTM pages still display his older biography, including the Chief Market Analyst title. Other FXTM pages no longer list him. The pages are therefore not synchronized, and the surviving biography should be understood as an archived or outdated profile.

For accuracy, the appropriate summary is:

Han Tan joined FXTM as a Southeast Asia-focused Market Analyst in January 2019. He later became Chief Market Analyst within Exinity and is identified in 2026 sources as Chief Market Analyst at Bybit.

Why the appointment mattered to FXTM

Han brought a combination of broadcast experience, regional knowledge and financial-market reporting to a broker that was expanding its educational and research output. His role was designed to translate market-moving developments into commentary that could reach Southeast Asian audiences as well as FXTM’s wider client base.

For readers assessing an analyst’s past commentary, the timeline is important. Analysis published under Han’s name on older FXTM pages relates to his historical role at the company. It should not be presented as evidence that he currently writes for or represents FXTM.
