When did Gulf Air start flying to New York?

Is the Bahrain–JFK flight nonstop, and how often does it operate?
Gulf Air describes the route as direct and lists three weekly flights between Bahrain and New York. Its New York route page and destination page provide the airline’s route information. Frequency and operating days are subject to schedule changes.
A schedule page updated October 6, 2026, with its feed last checked October 4, lists flight GF 91 from BAH to JFK on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday for the dates displayed. That feed gives a scheduled duration of 13 hours 55 minutes and identifies a Boeing 787-9. Which aircraft does Gulf Air use?
Gulf Air specified the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner for the route. Its fleet page publishes a capacity of up to 280 seats: 26 Falcon Gold seats and 256 Economy seats. The same page lists 80–90 inches of seat pitch in Falcon Gold and 32 inches in Economy, as well as cabin features including Wi-Fi and entertainment screens. These are Gulf Air’s published fleet specifications, not a guarantee of the configuration or equipment on a particular JFK flight. What does Gulf Air say the route is for?
Gulf Air described the service as a return to the North American market and part of its strategy of calibrated expansion. Aviation Week reported the announcement and quoted Gulf Air Group chief executive officer Jeffrey Goh saying the service would give passengers more choice and convenience for travel between Bahrain and North America, and for connections through Bahrain. Which JFK terminal should passengers use?
Aviation Week reported in July 2025 that Gulf Air initially planned to use Terminal 1 and intended to move to New Terminal One in June 2026. That was a plan announced before the launch, and the available information does not establish Gulf Air’s current JFK terminal. Check your airline or airport details for the terminal assigned to your specific flight.
