Austria’s Financial Market Authority (FMA) warned investors against concluding transactions with GSL Markets on 24 September 2022. The warning says the provider was not authorized to carry out banking transactions in Austria that require a license. That is a serious, jurisdiction-specific warning—not a court finding of fraud or a determination of the broker’s status in every country.
What did Austria’s FMA say about GSL Markets?
In its 24 September 2022 warning, the FMA named GSL Markets and listed gslmarkets.com and gslmarket.com. It said the provider’s registered address was apparently in Bulgaria and stated: “This provider is not authorised to carry out banking transactions in Austria that require a licence.”
The notice warned investors against concluding transactions with the provider. Its stated scope is Austria and banking transactions for which a license is required there. It does not, by itself, establish whether the operator held or holds authorization in another jurisdiction, and it is not a court determination that the business committed fraud.
What can be verified about the broker today?
The FMA notice establishes what the regulator said in September 2022. It does not identify the current legal entity operating the website or establish whether the service is currently accepting customers. Those details remain unresolved.

A Traders Union profile updated on 5 July 2026 described the website as unavailable and said current company details and regulatory information were unclear. That is a third-party status report, not a confirmed live outage or an official finding about present authorization. See its GSL Markets profile.
What did older broker reviews report?
A 2022 review by The Forex Review said its reviewer could not access a registration flow or trading software when inspecting the broker, and that several trading claims could not be verified. This is dated reporting, not a current hands-on test. The article also repeated historical deposit, leverage and payment-fee claims attributed to the broker, but those terms have not been confirmed in current primary documents. They should not be treated as current account conditions. Read the 2022 review with that limitation in mind.

- As a day trader, you can live and work anywhere in the world. You can decide when to work and when not to work.
- You only answer to yourself. That is the life of the successful day trader. Many people aspire to it, but very few succeed. Day trading is not gambling or an online poker game.
- To be successful at day trading you need the right tools and you need to be motivated, to work hard, and to persevere.
How should you assess GSL Markets before considering a transaction?
Do not rely on a brand name, website address, or an old review to establish that a broker is authorized. Check the legal entity that would actually contract with you against the official records of the regulator for your country or region.
- Find the contracting entity. Read the account agreement and current legal disclosures for the full company name and registered details. If you cannot identify the entity, you cannot reliably match it to a regulator’s records.
- Check the regulator’s official register. Search the regulator serving your jurisdiction for that exact entity and verify that the authorization covers the service being offered. A similar name or a different group company is not enough.
- Match the details. Compare the register’s firm name, website, contact information, and permitted activities with the information supplied by the broker. Contact the regulator using contact details from its own official website if anything differs.
- Read the applicable protections and terms. Confirm which entity holds your account, what complaint route applies, what customer protections are available, and what the current documents say about fees, leverage, products, and withdrawals.
The FMA warning is a strong reason for caution, but it does not answer the authorization question for every country. No current primary schedule of GSL Markets’ fees, leverage, or withdrawal terms is established here.
