Groww’s parent, Billionbrains Garage Ventures Ltd., completed a ₹6,632.30 crore IPO in November 2025—roughly $750 million as rounded in the headline. Only ₹1,060 crore was fresh capital for the company; ₹5,572.30 crore came from existing shareholders selling shares. The offer closed on 7 November, and Groww shares began trading on 12 November 2025.

How much did Groww raise, and who received the proceeds?

The ₹6,632.30 crore offer combined two different transactions, according to Groww’s IPO announcement:

Offer component Amount What it means
Fresh issue ₹1,060 crore New shares issued by Billionbrains Garage Ventures Ltd.; this is the portion raised by the company.
Offer for sale (OFS) ₹5,572.30 crore Existing shareholders sold shares; this amount went to the selling holders, not to the company as fresh capital.
Total issue ₹6,632.30 crore The combined fresh issue and OFS, approximately $750 million as rounded in the headline.

So the headline-sized figure describes the IPO’s total offer, not the amount added to Groww’s balance sheet. The distinction matters when assessing what the listing itself funded.

What were the IPO price and dates?

Groww announced a price band of ₹95–₹100 per share. Public bidding ran from 4 through 7 November 2025, and the basis of allotment was finalized on 10 November, according to the company’s offer details and the NSE-hosted basis-of-allotment notice. The final issue price was ₹100 per share.

How strong was demand for the shares?

The NSE-hosted basis-of-allotment notice recorded overall subscription of 17.63 times and subscription of 9.60 times in the retail individual investor category. Those are category-specific allotment figures from the exchange document; Groww’s separate listing-day article reported somewhat different multiples. The exchange notice is the reference here for the final category figures.

When did Groww shares list, and how did they open?

Trading began on 12 November 2025. Groww reported that the shares opened at about ₹114 on BSE, 14% above the ₹100 issue price, and around ₹112 on NSE, a premium of about 12%. These are listing-day opening prices reported by the company, not current quotes or evidence of longer-term returns. Its listing-day update also said the stock had reached ₹123.94 by 10:20 a.m. that day—a time-specific observation, not a full performance record.

What does the IPO say about Groww and retail investing in India?

A large platform was going public

Billionbrains Garage Ventures Ltd.’s prospectus says Groww began around 2016 as a technology-led platform focused initially on mutual funds, then expanded into stocks (including IPOs), derivatives, bonds, mutual funds and other financial products. It reported 47.89 million active NSE users as of 30 June 2025. The prospectus also attributed to Redseer the claim that Groww had crossed 100 million cumulative app downloads by that date. Downloads and active users are different measures, and the download figure is a prospectus claim attributed to Redseer, not an independently checked app-store count. See the SEBI-hosted prospectus.

Later operating figures are a separate snapshot

Groww’s investor-relations page shows 23.6 million transacting users, ₹3.77 trillion in customer assets and ₹10.40 billion in SIP inflows as of 8 October 2026. These are company-reported metrics from a later date, not IPO-era figures, and they measure different aspects of the business. The same page lists mutual funds, stocks, IPOs, derivatives and credit products. See Groww Investor Relations.

Together, the IPO’s scale and the prospectus’s user figures show why a retail-focused investing platform could attract substantial public-market attention. They do not, by themselves, establish how Indian retail participation will develop or how the listed shares will perform.

What risks did the IPO documents flag?

The prospectus described an application process using ASBA (Application Supported by Blocked Amount) and said at least 35% of the net issue was available to retail individual investors. It also warned: “Investments in equity and equity-related securities involve a degree of risk and investors should not invest any funds in the Issue unless they can afford to take the risk of losing their entire investment.” That warning is from Billionbrains Garage Ventures Ltd.’s prospectus filed with SEBI. The IPO is complete; this article is a retrospective, not investment advice.
