No: the reported $7 billion figure is not a current IPO target. In January 2025, TechCrunch reported that Groww was seeking a pre-IPO valuation of $6 billion to $8 billion, citing unnamed sources; Groww declined to comment. Groww later completed its IPO in November 2025. The company reported an issue price of ₹100 per share and a BSE debut near ₹114, but those figures do not establish the company’s final or current market capitalization.
Where the $7 billion figure came from
On January 12, 2025, TechCrunch reported that Groww was preparing for an IPO and seeking a valuation between $6 billion and $8 billion. The $7 billion headline figure is the midpoint of that reported range, not a valuation Groww officially announced. TechCrunch attributed the range to unnamed sources familiar with the matter and said Groww declined to comment. TechCrunch’s January 2025 report
That wording described a prospective target before the offering. It should not be read as the IPO’s final valuation, the price investors ultimately paid for the whole company, or a current market capitalization.
What happened to Groww’s IPO
Groww’s IPO subsequently went ahead. The company says it filed its red herring prospectus with SEBI on October 29, 2025, and that the offer opened on November 4 and closed on November 7. Why the IPO figures do not confirm a $7 billion valuation
Several different measures can appear in IPO coverage, and they answer different questions:
- Pre-IPO target range: the $6 billion–$8 billion range TechCrunch attributed to unnamed sources in January 2025.
- Offer size: Groww’s reported ₹6,632.30 crore describes the value of shares offered, not the value of all the company’s shares.
- Issue price: ₹100 per share was the price set for the IPO, according to Groww.
- Listing price: Groww says the stock debuted on the BSE near ₹114, about 14% above the issue price.
- Market capitalization: the market value of the company’s shares at a particular time. The sources cited here do not establish Groww’s exact market capitalization at the offering or on October 8, 2026.
Converting a per-share price into market capitalization requires the relevant share count and date-specific price. The cited figures do not provide a basis to treat the early dollar target as confirmed or to calculate a current value from it.
