Was Alacraft closing for the same reason?
No. The PerthNow article separately reported that Alacraft, another business in the market space, planned to close at the end of September 2023 because owner Helen Hatton was retiring. The report attributed Railway Fresh Market’s planned closure to its location, low customer numbers and a weak economy—not to retirement.
What is known about the store’s current status?
The 2023 report documents an announced closure plan, but does not confirm whether Railway Fresh Market or Gosnells Railway Markets are open today. It also noted that the store had promoted Australian produce and advertised daily hours of 7am to 6pm; those were the business’s own claims and stated schedule at the time, not evidence of its current operations.
