Yes—the Google Pixel 9a is officially available in Canada. It launched on April 10, 2025, and remains listed through the Canadian Google Store and retail partners. Google’s listed prices are CA$679 for 128 GB and CA$809 for 256 GB, before sales tax and other applicable charges.
Best Buy may offer new unlocked units for less, while open-box and refurbished phones can cost substantially less still. Carrier offers can show device payments of CA$0 or CA$1 per month, but those figures are not comparable with an unlocked price until you calculate the required plan, term, credits and any final balance.

The practical question in 2026 is not whether the Pixel 9a launched in Canada, but whether your preferred colour, storage capacity and seller have stock. Google can show all configurations while delivery timing depends on postal code. Best Buy may list a product while marking it sold out online or limiting it to store-availability checks.
Google Pixel 9a Canadian prices
| Version | Google Store Canada | Observed new-retail range | Best suited to |
|---|---|---|---|
| 128 GB | CA$679 | About CA$650–CA$680 | Most buyers and lower upfront cost |
| 256 GB | CA$809 | About CA$810 | Long-term or storage-heavy users |
The official Google Store difference is CA$130. That makes the 256 GB model about 19% more expensive than the 128 GB model. These are device prices, not checkout totals: sales tax, delivery charges and any provincial environmental handling fees may apply.
Best Buy Canada’s Pixel 9a listings have shown new unlocked 128 GB models around CA$649.97 and 256 GB models around CA$809.99. Those are observed listing prices, not guaranteed national prices. Colour, location, seller and inventory can change the amount.

Google Store Canada: simplest unlocked purchase
The Google Store is the clearest baseline for Canadian pricing. It offers an unlocked phone, Google’s direct ordering and support channels, and a trade-in valuation during the purchase process. You can choose among Obsidian, Porcelain, Iris and Peony when those configurations are in stock.
Enter your postal code before relying on a delivery estimate. A configuration shown on the product page may not be immediately available for shipment or pickup. Trade-in values are device-specific and can change. Promotional pricing and bonuses are also temporary.
Best Buy Canada: compare new, open-box and refurbished stock
Best Buy is useful when you want to compare an unlocked phone, local pickup, carrier financing and lower-priced condition grades in one place. Its listings can include Best Buy inventory and marketplace sellers, so do not treat every result as an equivalent retail purchase.
For a new phone, check that the listing is unlocked, identify the seller and compare the complete price with Google’s listing. For open-box or refurbished units, inspect the condition description, warranty, return period, battery information, included accessories and seller identity before paying. Best Buy’s unlocked Pixel 9a category has shown open-box and refurbished examples roughly between CA$430 and CA$600, depending on condition, storage, colour and stock.

- Google Pixel 10a is a durable, everyday phone with more[1]; snap brilliant photography on a simple, powerful camera, get 30+ hours out of a full charge[2], and do more with helpful AI like Gemini[3]
- Unlocked Android phone gives you the flexibility to change carriers and choose your own data plan; it works with Google Fi, Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, and other major carriers
- Pixel 10a is sleek and durable, with a super smooth finish, scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass 7i display, and IP68 water and dust protection[4]

- Plan, create, and get more done with help from Gemini, your built-in AI assistant[3]; have it screen spam calls while you focus[6]; chat with Gemini to brainstorm your meal plan[7], or bring your ideas to life with Nano Banana[8]
If the phone is from a marketplace seller, also verify that it is a Canadian-compatible model, that its IMEI is not blacklisted, and that the seller clearly explains warranty coverage. A lower price is not a bargain if the return or repair process is uncertain.
Canadian carriers: useful only after total-cost comparison
Pixel 9a offers associated with Rogers, TELUS, Bell, Koodo, Fido, Freedom Mobile and Virgin Plus appear in Canadian retail listings. Monthly device-payment examples have included CA$0, CA$1, CA$16.71 and CA$20, but these figures are not directly comparable.
A carrier may require a particular plan, a trade-in, an upfront payment, a 24- or 36-month term, bill credits, or a deferred balance. Some agreements may require returning the device or paying a buyout at the end. Credits may disappear if you cancel or change the account early.
Use this worksheet before accepting a “free” or CA$1-per-month offer:
Total cost = (monthly device payment × number of months)
+ upfront payment
+ final balance or buyout
+ required plan premium
+ taxes and fees
− guaranteed credits
Then compare that result with the unlocked purchase price. Include only the portion of the wireless plan that you would not otherwise pay. If you already need the same plan, the carrier subsidy may be valuable. If the offer requires an expensive plan or locks you into forfeitable credits, buying unlocked may cost less overall.
128 GB or 256 GB: which Pixel 9a is better value?
Choose 128 GB if you want the lowest sensible price
The 128 GB model is the better fit for people who stream most media, use Google Photos or another cloud-backup service, download few large games, and expect to replace the phone within a few years. It keeps the official purchase price at CA$679 and avoids paying for storage you may never use.
The limitation is that there is no microSD expansion. Large games, 4K video, offline music and movies, and years of locally stored photos can consume 128 GB faster than expected. Cloud storage can help, but it may introduce an ongoing subscription cost.
Choose 256 GB if you are keeping it for years
The 256 GB model makes more sense for long-term ownership, frequent 4K recording, large games, substantial offline downloads or anyone who dislikes managing phone storage. The extra CA$130 buys capacity and convenience—not faster performance. Both versions use Google’s Tensor G4 processor and 8 GB of RAM.

Google advertises seven years of updates for the Pixel 9a. That makes storage longevity more relevant if you intend to keep the phone through much of its support period, although update support does not guarantee every feature will be available in every country or language.
Specifications that matter to the price
The Pixel 9a’s value proposition is built around a relatively compact design, Google’s software and camera features rather than flagship-level hardware. Relevant specifications listed by Google include:
- 6.3-inch 1080 × 2424 Actua pOLED display with a 60–120 Hz refresh rate.
- Tensor G4 processor and 8 GB of RAM.
- 128 GB or 256 GB internal storage.
- 5,100 mAh typical battery capacity.
- Qi-certified wireless charging.
- 48 MP wide and 13 MP ultrawide rear cameras, plus a 13 MP front camera.
- 4K video recording.
- IP68 dust and water resistance.
- USB-C connectivity.
Google’s claims of more than 30 hours of battery life, and up to 100 hours with Extreme Battery Saver, are manufacturer estimates rather than independent test results. IP68 is also not the same as permanent waterproofing: resistance can diminish through wear, damage, repair or disassembly. Treat the phone as water-resistant, not waterproof.
The specifications page lists a USB-C-to-USB-C cable and SIM tool, but does not list a wall charger in the box. Buyers who do not already have a suitable USB-C charger should include one in the purchase budget. A compatible third-party charger can be a lower-cost alternative to a Google-branded model.

The Canadian Google Store checkout has displayed Preferred Care at CA$8 per month or CA$189 for two years. Availability and terms can change, so confirm the option, coverage, exclusions and cancellation rules during checkout. Google’s support information also indicates that Canadian availability may be subject to change.
At CA$189, two-year protection is a meaningful share of a discounted Pixel 9a’s price. Compare the premium and deductible with the cost of repairing or replacing the phone, and check whether a refurbished or marketplace purchase is eligible. Do not assume coverage transfers across sellers.
A trade-in can change the calculation substantially, but the estimate is specific to the old device’s model and condition. Compare the guaranteed trade-in value, inspection rules and timing—not just the promotional headline.
Should you buy the Pixel 9a in 2026?
The Pixel 9a can be a sensible purchase when the price is clearly below Google’s list price or when you specifically want its compact size, camera-focused software and long update commitment. The strongest default choices are:
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
- New 128 GB: buy when discounted to roughly the mid-CA$600s and you mainly stream, back up photos and plan a moderate ownership period.
- New 256 GB: pay the CA$130 premium when keeping the phone for several years or storing substantial local media.
- Open-box or refurbished: consider when the discount is large enough to justify checking battery condition, warranty, return rights, seller identity and IMEI status.
- Carrier financing: choose only after calculating the complete device-and-plan cost and confirming what happens if you leave early.
Because the Pixel 9a is an older A-series model by 2026, compare its final price with discounted newer Pixel A-series phones, discounted Pixel 9 or Pixel 10 models, and similarly priced Samsung or Motorola phones. A newer model is usually the better value if its price is close and it provides a longer remaining support window or meaningful hardware improvement.
Quick buying checklist
- Confirm the exact capacity and colour, not merely that a Pixel 9a page exists.
- Check whether the unit is new, open-box, refurbished or marketplace-supplied.
- Compare the unlocked price after tax and provincial fees.
- For carrier offers, calculate every payment, plan premium, credit, balance and return obligation.
- Verify the seller’s return policy, warranty and battery terms.
- Check trade-in conditions and the final credit amount.
- Budget for a case, screen protector and—if needed—a USB-C charger.
- Compare the discounted 9a with newer models before committing.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Canadian Pixel 9a unlocked?
The Google Store Canada sells the Pixel 9a as an unlocked phone. Retailer and carrier listings should be checked individually because financing terms and account conditions differ.
Is the Pixel 9a waterproof?
No phone should be described as waterproof. The Pixel 9a has an IP68 dust and water-resistance rating, but that resistance can diminish through wear, damage, repair or disassembly.
Are carrier CA$0 or CA$1 offers really free?
Not necessarily. They may require a specific plan, trade-in, long financing term, bill credits, a deferred balance or a device-return obligation. Calculate the full device-and-plan cost before comparing the offer with an unlocked purchase.
