How much does Google pay Samsung for Gemini?
The amount is not publicly established. The court’s public account describes three forms of compensation but redacts both payment amounts and revenue-share percentages. That means the record confirms a payment arrangement, not a dollar total that can support the word “enormous” as a measured figure. See the September 2, 2025 U.S. District Court opinion and the DOJ Antitrust Division’s redacted proposed findings of fact.
Do not confuse this agreement with Google’s separate search revenue-share agreement with Samsung. The opinion treats them as distinct arrangements.
What does the Gemini agreement pay for?
The worldwide Gemini Commercial Agreement began January 1, 2025. The opinion states a term through December 31, 2027, with an automatic one-year renewal through December 31, 2028. It describes payments in three categories:

Which Samsung devices qualify?
Payments apply to “Gemini Qualified Devices,” not automatically to every Samsung product. The court describes conditions for new qualifying devices that place Gemini prominently and make it the default assistant:
- Gemini must be preinstalled and placed in the app tray, alphabetically or next to the Play Store icon.
- Pressing and holding the side key and using the hotword must invoke Gemini by default.
- Google may choose other Gemini entry-point offerings during device setup.
- Samsung must install AICore and Gemini Nano when a device meets the applicable technical requirements.
The filing also connects fixed monthly payments to usage measures, so the arrangement is not described solely as a payment for putting an app on a device. The detailed findings appear in the DOJ Antitrust Division’s redacted proposed findings.

Did the 2025 Google remedies cancel the agreement?
The September 2, 2025 remedies order limits certain exclusive distribution contracts; it does not, by itself, establish that this particular agreement was canceled. The order restricts conditioning licenses for Google applications on distribution, preloading, or placement of Google Search, Chrome, Google Assistant, or Gemini. It also limits certain revenue-share conditions and bars agreements that prohibit partners from simultaneously distributing another general search engine, browser, or generative AI product. That legal limit is distinct from the commercial terms described in the opinion. Separately, Google’s February 25, 2026 announcement of new Gemini capabilities for Samsung Galaxy S26 devices described a continuing product relationship, but did not disclose the amount or current financial status of this agreement. What the public record establishes—and what it does not
- Established: Google and Samsung have a worldwide Gemini Commercial Agreement that began January 1, 2025, with a stated term and renewal provision.
- Established: The agreement describes fixed, activation-based bounty, and revenue-share payments for qualified devices subject to placement, default-invocation, technical, and usage conditions.
- Not established publicly: The payment total, the individual amounts, and the revenue-share percentages. The relevant figures are redacted in the public court materials.
- Not established by product announcements: A later announcement of Gemini features on Samsung devices does not reveal the agreement’s financial terms.
