GoodShip announced an $8 million Series A on May 16, 2024, led by Bessemer Venture Partners. The freight-software company said it would use the financing to expand its team, speed product development and support a growing customer roster. The round was a historical funding milestone—not a measure of GoodShip’s valuation, revenue or customer savings—and it is not the company’s latest financing.

What happened in GoodShip’s Series A?

Bessemer Venture Partners led the $8 million round. Existing investors Ironspring Ventures, Chicago Ventures, Fuse VC and Cercano Management participated, alongside new investors 53 Stations, Andrew Silver, Nichole Wischoff and other angel investors.

GoodShip identified a $5 million seed round in 2023 as its preceding financing. FreightWaves reported that the Series A brought the company’s total funding to $15.4 million since its 2022 founding. That cumulative figure was reported at the time of the Series A; it should not be read as a current funding total.

GoodShip said the new capital would go toward hiring, accelerating feature development and supporting its expanding customer roster. The company did not present the round as evidence of a quantified customer return, and the available coverage does not establish independently verified customer savings or ROI.

What does GoodShip do?

GoodShip sells enterprise freight procurement and orchestration software. In practical terms, freight orchestration means connecting purchasing decisions with transportation data, carrier performance and operational follow-through, rather than treating a freight bid as an isolated transaction.

The company says its platform connects with existing supply-chain management systems, including a shipper’s transportation management system (TMS). It analyzes freight data to identify potential cost and service opportunities, and offers market insights, procurement tools and carrier-management features. The 2024 funding coverage also described an AI-powered RFP scenario builder, collaboration and in-app messaging, a recommendation engine, and workflows for taking corrective action.

These are product capabilities and intended benefits as described by the company and contemporaneous reporting. They do not establish that every customer will achieve savings, improve service or realize a particular efficiency gain.

Which customers and claims were reported in 2024?

FreightWaves reported in May 2024 that Kellanova (formerly Kellogg Co.), KBX Logistics, Mark Anthony Services and Simmons Foods were enterprise customers using GoodShip insights and centralized procurement workflows. This is a customer list reported at that time, not a current or exhaustive roster.

“GoodShip is a combination of the finance and analytics tool we were looking for and the freight orchestration tool we didn’t know we needed.”

— Matt Rose, Senior Director of Transportation at Kellanova, as reported by FreightWaves on May 16, 2024

FreightWaves also quoted Bessemer partner Mike Droesch describing customer interest in using platform insights to take corrective action in real time. That is an investor’s characterization of the product, not an independent performance evaluation.

How the Series A fits into GoodShip’s later timeline

The 2024 round is one point in a subsequent company timeline. GoodShip’s official news index lists a $25 million Series B announcement dated August 14, 2025. The indexed announcement confirms the date and amount; further terms are not stated in the available information.

In 2026, GoodShip also announced activity beyond its earlier shipper-focused positioning:

  • April 7, 2026: GoodShip announced that Prime Inc. selected its platform for bid management and AI-driven network intelligence. The company described this as an expansion to carriers, brokers and logistics providers as well as shippers.
  • June 30, 2026: GoodShip and Cargado announced cross-border freight benchmarks embedded in GoodShip workflows. The announcement says the integration is available to joint customers with a Cargado subscription.

Those later announcements indicate that the company’s customer segments and integrations have developed since the Series A; they do not change what the 2024 financing was or establish the results of any particular deployment.

What the financing does—and does not—tell readers

The $8 million figure describes the amount of the Series A announced in May 2024. It is not a company valuation, annual revenue figure or measure of customer savings. The $15.4 million cumulative-funding figure was FreightWaves’ report at the time, while the later Series B is a separate financing event. Neither funding amount, by itself, demonstrates product effectiveness or financial performance.

For a business evaluating freight software, the more relevant questions are whether the platform fits its existing TMS and data environment, which procurement and carrier workflows it supports, and what results can be measured in a specific deployment. The cited coverage does not provide an independently verified ROI study or a universal savings figure.
