Good Job Games announced a $23 million seed round on March 11, 2025, to scale its games and grow its player base, with Match Villains the company’s stated priority. Menlo Ventures and Arcadia Gaming Partners led the seed. It was not the company’s last reported financing: a $60 million Series A followed in July 2025, bringing reported investment to $83 million at that time.
Why Good Job Games raised $23 million
The Istanbul-based mobile-game company said the seed investment would support its next stage of growth: scaling its games and reaching more players. CEO and co-founder Ilker Ilicali identified Match Villains as the immediate focus, describing the goal as bringing the game to a large audience.
The raise marked a change in financing strategy. Good Job Games said it had grown without outside investment before the seed. Ilicali said, “We are proud to have grown Good Job Games with no external investment thanks to our passionate and extraordinary team.” He added that “bringing in the right partners” was the best strategic move at that stage.
How the company shifted toward match-3
Founded in 2017 by Ilker Ilicali and Nazim Akmandil, Good Job Games initially built its business in hyper-casual mobile games. In its March 2025 announcement, the company said it exceeded three billion downloads in its first two years, later sold Zen Match, and shifted its attention toward match-3 games. The download figure and account of the company’s history are company-reported, not independently audited.

What the funding and performance claims do—and do not—show
The funding announcements explain the company’s stated plan and investor backing, but they do not establish Match Villains’ revenue, profitability, player retention rates, or customer-acquisition costs. Investors praised the game’s performance, but those comments are opinions and attributed assessments, not published independent measurements. Menlo Ventures partner Amy Wu called it “the best match-3 game on the market” after playing more than 1,000 levels; that is her assessment, not an independently verified ranking. Arcadia Gaming Partners founder Akin Babayigit likewise praised its long-term retention without publishing underlying figures.
Good Job Games said it had more than 100 developers, designers, and artists when it announced the seed in 2025. GamesBeat separately described a headcount of about 120; those are distinct reported figures from that period, not a verified current employee count. A 2025 Türkiye Investment Office report also noted five studios founded by former Good Job Games employees and $58 million raised by those spin-offs. That ecosystem figure is separate from Good Job Games’ own financing.
