GoldSlips is a sweepstakes-style social casino, not a conventional cash casino: it separates nonredeemable Fun Coins and complimentary Gold Slips from Gold Slips won through play, which may be redeemable under its rules. Whether you can use it legally depends on your location. In a February 4, 2026 letter, the Illinois Gaming Board said it had reason to believe GoldSlips was operating an illegal online casino under Illinois law and demanded that it block Illinois residents or stop offering cash prizes. That is an Illinois regulator’s position, not a nationwide ruling.
What GoldSlips is—and what its balances mean
GoldSlips describes itself as a social casino where users play games using Fun Coins or Gold Slips for a chance to win cash prizes. Its landing page says users must be at least 21, no purchase is necessary, and participation is void where prohibited by law. GoldSlips’ official site presents the service as free online play, but that does not mean every balance shown in an account can be cashed out.

Fun Coins
GoldSlips says Fun Coins are for play only and cannot be redeemed or exchanged. Some coin bundles contain Fun Coins alone; others may include complimentary Gold Slips. Complimentary Gold Slips
GoldSlips describes Gold Slips as sweepstakes entries, not something a user can buy directly. Won Gold Slips
GoldSlips distinguishes Gold Slips won through play from complimentary ones. According to the company, won Gold Slips may be eligible for redemption after the account meets its threshold; its help center states that one won Gold Slip corresponds to US$1. There is no well-supported blanket yes or no for every state in the available information. GoldSlips says participation is void where prohibited by law, so readers need to consider their own location and the service’s current eligibility rules rather than assume nationwide availability.

What the Illinois Gaming Board said
In a letter dated February 4, 2026, the Illinois Gaming Board said it had “reason to believe that GoldSlips is engaged in the operation of an illegal online casino in violation of the Illinois Criminal Code.” The Board said its staff observed Illinois users able to play slots for a chance to win cash, stated that GoldSlips was not licensed or authorized by the Board for online gambling activity, and demanded that the company block Illinois residents or discontinue offering cash prizes. This establishes the regulator’s stated position and demand. It is not a court judgment or a nationwide determination. The available material does not establish whether GoldSlips complied, whether a later proceeding or ruling followed, or whether the service is currently accessible in Illinois.
