Goldman Sachs, Hong Kong FMI Services Limited and Moody’s Ratings joined the Global Synchronizer Foundation on March 19, 2025. The announcement said the Foundation then had more than 30 participants. Their membership adds banking, market-infrastructure and credit-risk perspectives to the governance community around Canton’s Global Synchronizer; it is not a consumer product launch or evidence of guaranteed adoption.
Which financial institutions joined?
The Global Synchronizer Foundation (GSF) announced on March 19, 2025, that Goldman Sachs, Hong Kong FMI Services Limited and Moody’s Ratings had become members. At that time, the Foundation said it had more than 30 participants. That figure describes the membership reported in the announcement, not a current headcount.
The three organizations represent different parts of financial markets: a global investment bank, a market-infrastructure organization and a credit-rating agency. Their participation broadens the range of industry perspectives within the Foundation, but the announcement does not quantify an economic impact or establish that any particular Canton application will be adopted.
What is Canton’s Global Synchronizer?
The Global Synchronizer is infrastructure within the Canton Network. The Foundation describes it as providing real-time synchronization and interoperability for regulated financial assets. Canton’s July 1, 2024 launch article presents the network as infrastructure for tokenizing and exchanging regulated financial assets and liabilities.

In practical terms, the proposition is that participating applications can coordinate transfers of assets while preserving privacy and permission controls. A shared synchronization layer is intended to let separate applications interoperate rather than operate as isolated systems. These are descriptions of the network’s design and aims; the cited announcements do not constitute independent performance testing or demonstrate a specific level of production adoption.
Why might these institutions join?
Foundation membership gives organizations a place in the network’s governance community and an opportunity to contribute their industry perspectives. For Goldman Sachs, that perspective is rooted in banking and markets; Hong Kong FMI Services Limited brings a market-infrastructure viewpoint; and Moody’s Ratings contributes experience in credit risk and ratings. The Foundation’s chairperson, Jørgen Ouaknine, said the new members would bring “valuable industry perspectives.”
The announcement does not spell out individual members’ business plans, technical deployments or expected returns from joining. Membership should therefore be understood as an ecosystem and governance milestone—not proof that a firm has launched a customer-facing service, committed a particular volume of assets, or endorsed a financial product.
How does the Foundation govern the network, and how can organizations participate?
The GSF is a membership organization associated with the Canton Network’s decentralized infrastructure. Joining the Foundation is one participation route, but Canton’s launch article describes several others:

- Run an application.
These routes are distinct: membership is participation in the Foundation, while operating network infrastructure or an application involves a different role. The cited materials do not provide a full account of voting procedures, member rights or technical admission requirements, so they do not support a more detailed claim about the Foundation’s governance mechanics.

The membership list is dynamic. A June 13, 2025 Federal Register notice recorded later additions including Proof Group, T-RIZE Group, Chainlink Labs and BNP Paribas, and stated that membership remained open. A July 8, 2025 Foundation update listed Kaiko, BitSafe, 4M Group, Lukka, AngelHack, TRM Labs and Fairmint as additional members. Those later reports show why a membership count should always be tied to its date; neither establishes the Foundation’s present-day total.
