What the ₹18,500 rise means
The figure in Goodreturns’ October 10 report refers to a two-day increase of ₹18,500 per 100 grams of 24K gold. It is not an increase of ₹18,500 per gram or per 10 grams. Expressed in smaller units, the reported rise was ₹1,850 per 10 grams, or ₹185 per gram. Goodreturns reported the following prices per gram on October 10, 2026. The table identifies purity because 24K, 22K and 18K are different categories and their rates are not interchangeable.

Why October 11 figures differ
NDTV’s pages dated October 11 list Mumbai at ₹15,129 per gram for 24K, ₹13,869 for 22K and ₹11,348 for 18K. For Chennai, NDTV lists ₹15,129, ₹13,869 and ₹11,391 per gram, respectively. These are later-dated figures from a different publisher and should not be combined with Goodreturns’ October 10 figures as if they were one synchronized rate table. How to use a quoted rate when buying jewellery
A rate table is a reference point, not necessarily the finished-jewellery price. NDTV notes that the amount charged may include making charges, GST and a design premium. - Confirm the weight unit used and whether the figure is a gold rate or a completed-item price.
- Review the invoice for making charges, GST and any design premium.
Because the cited figures are dated October 10 and 11, 2026, they should not be treated as current after those dates. Confirm the jeweller’s rate before making a purchase.
