For a group fitness or boot-camp instructor
A simple interval timer could be useful if the instructor would use a separate device during sessions. Check first: some coaches may already rely on a phone, watch, or equipment they own.
For a trainer with a stated learning goal
If a trainer has mentioned a particular certification or specialty course, you could offer to contribute toward it.
