What GE Aerospace announced for 2025
The March 12 announcement described a planned, U.S.-focused investment in factory capacity and the supply chain. GE’s original wording was “nearly $1 billion” and “around 5,000” hires; those were targets announced for 2025, not the final reported figures. The company said roles would include manufacturing and engineering positions.
GE Chairman and CEO H. Lawrence Culp, Jr. said: “Investing in manufacturing and innovation is more critical than ever for the future of our industry and the communities where we operate.” He said the effort would help customers modernize and expand fleets while scaling technologies for future flight. Where the announced investment was expected to go
GE presented these figures as examples of planned spending, with remaining funds to be deployed according to need. They are not a complete accounting of the program or confirmation that each named location ultimately received the stated amount.

Why materials and suppliers were part of the plan
GE said additive manufacturing can reduce part counts and allow more design freedom. It described ceramic matrix composites as one-third the weight of traditional materials and able to operate at temperatures up to 500 degrees hotter. Those are GE’s descriptions, not independently established performance comparisons in the announcement. Supplier spending also addressed constraints that could affect production even when factory capacity was available.
What the hiring target meant
GE said the planned 5,000 hires would include manufacturing and engineering roles. The announcement did not provide a detailed job-by-job breakdown, wage range, hiring schedule by site, or a list of openings. It therefore describes an overall company hiring target, rather than a guarantee of a particular job or a specified number of openings in any one community.

Engine output: a forecast, not a confirmed result
GE forecast that CFM LEAP deliveries would increase 15–20% in 2025. That was a company forecast made at the time of the announcement; it is not, by itself, evidence that the increase occurred or that the investment alone would cause it. GE said the broader spending was intended to improve engine safety, quality, and delivery. GE’s announcement contains the LEAP forecast and its stated aims.
What GE later reported for 2025
In its 2025 Form 10-K, GE reported that it invested $1 billion in U.S. manufacturing and hired 5,000 U.S. workers in 2025. These are the company’s retrospective figures for the year, distinct from the “nearly” and “around” estimates in its original announcement. They do not establish that every announced allocation went to its example sites or that the LEAP delivery forecast was met. Read GE’s 2025 Form 10-K.

The filing also says material availability and supplier delivery performance continued to disrupt production and deliveries. GE describes demand for its equipment and services as linked to commercial air travel and freight activity, as well as government defense budgets. This context helps explain the focus on suppliers, factory capacity, and military engines, while reflecting GE’s account of its business conditions.

GE’s current manufacturing page describes a separate 2026 commitment: another $1 billion in U.S. manufacturing investment and 5,000 hires. That is a new-year plan, not part of the 2025 announcement or its reported results. GE’s manufacturing page outlines the 2026 plan.
