GATE 2025’s late-fee registration deadline was extended again: an October 8, 2024 notice set the final deadline at 11:59 p.m. on Friday, October 11, 2024. Registration is now closed; the earlier headline saying it would end “today” is not current.

What was the final GATE 2025 late-fee deadline?

The GATE 2025 Notifications page, published by the organising office at IIT Roorkee, announced on October 8, 2024 that the extended online registration and application period with late fee would remain open until 11:59 p.m. on October 11, 2024. The notice said the extension followed requests from applicants. Read the GATE 2025 notification.

The original brochure had listed October 7, 2024 as the end of the extended period. The October 8 notice therefore moved the deadline by four days. Neither date is a current opportunity to apply: GATE 2025 registration has closed.

How much was the GATE 2025 late fee?

IIT Roorkee’s GATE 2025 advertisement listed the following application fees per test paper. The late-fee amount applied during the extended registration period:

Applicant category Regular-period fee per paper Extended-period fee per paper
Female, SC/ST, or PwD candidates ₹900 ₹1,400
All other candidates, including foreign nationals ₹1,800 ₹2,300

The amounts are per paper, so candidates applying for two papers paid twice the applicable fee. The advertisement specified a disability threshold of at least 40% for the PwD category and stated that application fees were non-refundable. See IIT Roorkee’s GATE 2025 advertisement.

What happened after registration closed?

GATE 2025 was organised by IIT Roorkee. The official schedule listed the exams for February 1, 2, 15, and 16, 2025, with forenoon and afternoon sessions; results were announced on March 19, 2025. The free scorecard download window ran from March 28 to May 31, 2025. A paid download window followed from June 1 to December 31, 2025, at ₹500. The official FAQ says scorecards are unavailable from January 1, 2026. See the GATE 2025 official website and the official FAQ.

The official overview states that a GATE score remains valid for three years from the result announcement. Qualifying does not guarantee a job with a public sector undertaking; candidates should check each employer’s recruitment requirements. Read the official GATE 2025 overview.
