Wareable reported on February 24, 2026, that the 51 mm model’s US price had fallen to $1,699—a reported $300 reduction—and described the change as permanent. T3 later reported a UK price of £1,500 on March 18, 2026, down from £1,730. Those are dated reports, not verified live prices, and Garmin’s direct confirmation of a permanent cut is not established by the available sources.

Is the lower price officially permanent?
“Permanent” is Wareable’s characterization of the reported US adjustment. The available sources do not include a direct Garmin confirmation that it is permanent. Garmin’s September 3, 2025 announcement establishes the US launch price and announced availability date, but not the later price: Garmin’s launch announcement.

What the launch price bought
Garmin announced the fēnix 8 Pro series on September 3, 2025, with the MicroLED model scheduled to become available September 8. The launch announcement identifies the MicroLED version as a 51 mm watch. Garmin’s stated specifications include more than 400,000 LEDs, brightness up to 4,500 nits, and up to 10 days of smartwatch-mode battery life. These are manufacturer figures, not independent measurements.

Garmin also announced 51 mm AMOLED Pro battery life of up to 27 days in smartwatch mode. That is a manufacturer estimate for a different display configuration, not a like-for-like test comparison. The higher stated maximum may matter if battery life is a priority, while the MicroLED model’s headline appeal is its display brightness.

Garmin says inReach features require an active subscription, and LTE and satellite services are not available in every country. Coverage, service terms, and local restrictions can vary, so check Garmin’s country-specific information before treating those features as part of the watch’s usable value.

How to assess the price for your budget
- Use the right market figure. The reported $1,699 price applies to the US report; £1,500 is the UK figure reported separately. Do not assume exchange rates or local retail pricing make one a proxy for the other.
- Compare the feature trade-off. If the bright MicroLED display is the reason to choose this model, weigh that against Garmin’s stated up-to-10-day battery estimate and the distinct AMOLED Pro’s up-to-27-day estimate.
- Include ongoing service costs. If you plan to use inReach functionality, account for the active subscription requirement and confirm local availability before deciding what the watch will cost to use.
- Verify the offer before paying. The reported adjustment does not establish current stock, an active promotion, or a live checkout total.
