The headline claim that Ryan Garcia vs. Devin Haney PPV numbers fell short of expectations is not backed by a verified final buy count in the available reporting. Estimates circulated, but the evidence does not establish a definitive total or confirm an exact Bob Arum statement about this fight’s numbers.
What is known about Garcia–Haney PPV buys?
Garcia and Haney fought in April 2024, and the bout was sold through DAZN Pay-Per-View, PPV.com and other outlets, according to The Ring’s June 2024 coverage. That report discusses payment allegations by the fighters and Golden Boy’s response; it does not provide a verified final PPV total.
Secondary coverage and online discussion circulated differing estimates, but the available sources do not establish a final accounting with a clearly defined scope, such as domestic versus worldwide buys. A figure repeated online should therefore be treated as an estimate unless its source identifies it as a final tally and explains what it counts.
Did Bob Arum reveal a shortfall?
The claim in the headline attributes the shortfall to Bob Arum, but an exact, verifiable Arum statement about Garcia–Haney’s PPV total has not been established here. A separate report about Arum and disappointing PPV numbers concerned Devin Haney vs. Regis Prograis—not Garcia–Haney. Its reported “low 50,000” figure cannot be used as a Garcia–Haney result.

The distinction matters: a promoter’s comment about one event is not evidence about another, even when Haney was involved in both. Without a verifiable statement tied to Garcia–Haney, the headline’s attribution should not be read as confirmation of a particular number.
How should the reported numbers be compared?
The Ring reported that the separate Gervonta Davis–Ryan Garcia event generated $22.8 million in ticket sales and a reported 1.2 million PPV buys in its 2025 retrospective. Those figures belong to Davis–Garcia, not Garcia–Haney, and the reported buy count is not presented here as an audited official tally.

That comparison can help explain why the two events are discussed together, but it cannot establish whether Garcia–Haney met a forecast. A meaningful comparison would need figures measured on the same basis—such as domestic or worldwide buys—and the same stage of accounting. The available sources do not supply enough detail to make that comparison for Garcia–Haney.

Garcia–Haney was distributed as a PPV event, and reports characterized its sales as below expectations. But no verified final total, clearly scoped estimate, or confirmed Arum quotation in the available reporting settles how many buys it generated or exactly what expectation it missed.
