GameStop reported closing 727 U.S. stores in fiscal 2025, which ended January 31, 2026. Its latest reviewed filing says the company does not anticipate closing a significant number of stores in fiscal 2026, but it does not identify which locations—if any—will close. How many U.S. GameStop stores closed?
GameStop’s fiscal 2025 Form 10-K reports 727 U.S. store disposals during the year. The company’s store table shows 2,325 U.S. locations at February 1, 2025, and 1,598 at January 31, 2026. Is GameStop closing stores in fiscal 2026?
GameStop said in its fiscal 2025 annual report and repeated in its fiscal 2026 second-quarter Form 10-Q that it did not anticipate closing a significant number of stores in fiscal 2026. The company linked that outlook to its view of the U.S. store footprint as part of its logistics infrastructure strategy. This is management’s stated expectation, not a guarantee about any specific location or a final year-end closure total.

Is the GameStop near me closing?
The reviewed filings do not publish a list of U.S. stores scheduled to close or already closed. They provide national totals and general criteria, not store addresses, towns, or mall locations. The aggregate 727-store figure therefore cannot establish whether a particular nearby store is affected.
For a location-specific answer, check the store’s current listing or contact that store directly. Confirm the address and date before making a trip; the company filings do not settle the current status of an individual location.

Why does GameStop close stores?
GameStop says it reviews its store portfolio based on market conditions, operational performance, and other relevant factors. Its fiscal 2025 filing says closures included locations that did not meet performance standards and stores whose leases had reached their end. No. The 727 figure is the U.S. segment’s fiscal 2025 disposals, reported separately from store figures for Canada, Australia, and Europe. GameStop’s fiscal 2026 second-quarter report also says it completed the sale of its French subsidiary, Micromania GameStop SAS. That international transaction is separate from the reported U.S. closure count. 2025 Form 10-K; 2026 second-quarter Form 10-Q.
