Yes. Gunzilla Games announced on March 25, 2025, that it had acquired Game Informer and was bringing the publication back. Editor-in-chief Matt Miller said the entire team that was working together when GameStop closed the magazine in August 2024 had returned. The announcement confirmed the website and archive were available again, but described print, membership, and subscription options as plans still in development.
What happened to Game Informer?
GameStop closed Game Informer in August 2024. On March 25, 2025, the publication announced its return under new ownership. The closure and relaunch were reported by GameSpot and Engadget.
Gunzilla Games said it acquired the publication and was bringing it back with its original editorial team. In his March 25, 2025 editor’s letter, Miller said Gunzilla secured Game Informer’s rights and that the publication would operate as Game Informer Inc.
Did the whole team return?
According to Miller, yes: the entire team that had been working together when the publication closed returned, including people in editorial, production, and other roles. He wrote, “The whole team has returned, and we can’t wait to connect with you again.” Gunzilla’s acquisition announcement also described the relaunch as bringing Game Informer back with its original editorial team.

Gunzilla Games announced that it acquired Game Informer. Miller said the publication would operate under the separate entity Game Informer Inc. The available announcements establish those stated ownership and operating arrangements; they do not provide further detail about the company’s corporate structure.
What did the relaunch mean for editorial independence?
Miller said the new owners wanted Game Informer to remain an independent editorial outlet, with its editorial group making all decisions about coverage without owner influence. That is the editor’s account of the intended arrangement, not independent evidence of how it has worked in practice.

Gunzilla said magazine back issues would be added to the digital archive at no cost, but that announcement does not confirm a current print subscription, price, or purchase route.
