Samsung’s U.S. comparison page lists the Fold7 from $1,999.99 before trade-in. If you find a new, unlocked 512GB Fold7 for $1,779 today, check the seller, warranty, and checkout total before treating it as a good deal.
What the $1,779 Fold7 price actually means
A report dated August 20, 2025, described a $300 Amazon reduction that brought the 512GB Galaxy Z Fold7 to $1,779. That makes the figure a dated, retailer-specific promotion—not evidence of a permanent price cut or a current offer. The report does not establish that the same listing, seller, or price is available now. Phandroid’s August 20, 2025 deal report
Samsung’s U.S. comparison page lists the Fold7 from $1,999.99 before trade-in. The price applies to the starting configuration; higher storage costs more. Samsung’s March 2026 MSRP document lists U.S. Fold7 prices of $1,999.99 for 256GB, $2,119.99 for 512GB, and $2,419.99 for 1TB. Samsung’s Fold7 comparison page · Samsung March 2026 MSRP document
So the historical $1,779 price was $340 below the March 2026 listed 512GB MSRP—not a $300 reduction from that later reference price. The reported $300 discount was calculated against the promotion’s own earlier reference price. Fold7 and Fold6: price and feature comparison
The Fold6 is not a stable Samsung.com price comparison anymore. Samsung’s March 2026 MSRP document marks its listed 256GB and 512GB models EOL, at $1,899.99 and $2,019.99 respectively. EOL in that document does not mean every retailer has stopped selling the phone; it means remaining new stock, open-box units, and refurbished listings may vary in price and terms.

How to tell whether a discount is genuinely comparable
A low headline price is useful only when it describes the same kind of purchase. Compare the Fold7 and Fold6 using the same storage capacity, condition, carrier status, and warranty coverage. Use the price due at checkout, not a monthly payment or a maximum advertised credit.
- Retailer markdown: An immediate temporary reduction, such as the reported 2025 Amazon promotion. It is not a permanent Samsung MSRP change.
- Trade-in offer: Samsung has advertised up to $1,000 in instant trade-in credit during some promotions. “Up to” is a maximum, not a guaranteed value for your phone; eligibility and inspection affect the credit. Check the Samsung U.S. phone offers for the terms in effect when you buy.
- Carrier bill credits: A promotion may be spread across 24 or 36 monthly payments and require an eligible plan, installment agreement, and continued service. Leaving early can affect remaining credits, so compare total payments and obligations rather than the displayed monthly amount.
- Renewed, refurbished, or open-box listing: A lower price may come with a different seller, warranty, return period, or device condition. It is not equivalent to a new, unlocked U.S. phone simply because the model name matches.
Use these calculations to compare offers:
Effective upfront price = advertised phone price − instant trade-in credit − unconditional discount + required fees.

Carrier cost after credits = total installment payments − monthly promotional credits, assuming you keep the qualifying line for the full term. Keep service costs separate if you would not otherwise choose that plan.
When the Fold7 is worth paying more for
As a practical buying rule—not a manufacturer claim—favor the Fold7 when the price gap is under about $250, provided it is new, unlocked, and covered by a normal U.S. warranty. Its thinner, lighter body, larger displays, newer processor, and higher-resolution main camera are the clearest reasons to choose it over the Fold6.
Rank #4
- A premium foldable smartphone featuring an 8.0" Dynamic AMOLED 2X main display, 6.5" cover display, 200MP main camera, Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor, up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage, 4,400mAh battery, and a slim 215g design.
If the gap is around $300–$400, base the decision on how much those changes matter to you. Fold6 owners who want a more pocketable phone or care about the main camera have stronger reasons to upgrade; people satisfied with their current phone may not get enough from the change to justify the extra cost.
A gap above $500 makes the Fold6 more compelling if its condition, seller, warranty, and return policy are acceptable. It still provides the large inner display and foldable format, but you are choosing an older device with a shorter remaining support runway. Exact support terms and regional coverage should be confirmed with Samsung rather than inferred from the model’s age.

What Fold6 owners should weigh before upgrading
Reasons to move to Fold7
- You want a noticeably thinner and lighter phone when folded.
- You would use the larger cover and inner displays.
- You value the newer processor platform or the higher-resolution main camera.
- You plan to keep the phone for several years and want the newer model’s longer remaining support runway.
Reasons to keep the Fold6
- Your phone still meets your needs and the Fold7 costs several hundred dollars after any eligible trade-in.
- You do not care much about the camera or slimmer design.
- You rely on the Fold6’s inner-display S Pen support and have not confirmed what accessories work with the Fold7.
- You would rather wait than pay a premium for an upgrade that leaves battery capacity and wired charging unchanged.
Checklist before you buy
- Confirm the storage tier. The reported $1,779 price was for the 512GB Fold7; do not assume a cheaper listing has the same capacity.
- Check condition and seller. Verify whether the device is new, renewed, refurbished, or open-box, and identify who handles returns and warranty claims.
- Confirm the model and carrier fit. Check that it is a U.S. unlocked model if that is what you need, and verify your carrier’s band and eSIM requirements for the exact device.
- Read warranty and return terms. A marketplace listing may not provide the same coverage as a direct U.S. purchase. For used or refurbished foldables, inspect the inner screen and protector, touch response, hinge alignment, frame, and signs of damage.
- Get your actual trade-in quote. Check the credit for your exact phone and condition; do not budget around the maximum advertised amount.
- Separate instant discounts from future credits. Confirm whether savings apply at checkout or arrive as carrier bill credits over time, and note any plan or service commitment.
- Compare final totals. Include required fees and taxes, and check whether any bundled accessories or protection plan are optional or included in the price.
Verdict: compare the real Fold7 price with the Fold6 you can actually buy
The $1,779 Galaxy Z Fold7 price is real as a reported August 2025 Amazon deal for the 512GB model, but it is not a verified current standard price. Samsung’s listed starting reference is $1,999.99 before trade-in, and Fold6 stock and pricing are now shaped by remaining inventory. If a new, unlocked, warranty-backed 512GB Fold7 is available at $1,779, it is attractive when a comparable Fold6 costs within roughly $250. If the Fold6 is more than $500 cheaper and has sound warranty and return terms, it can be the better value.
