It cut up to $250 from an unlocked Galaxy S25 Ultra without requiring a trade-in, new line, activation, or carrier plan. The clearest example was the 256GB model at about $1,049 before tax. Samsung’s U.S. store has since displayed a 256GB configuration for $999.99, though prices and stock vary by configuration.
What the original Amazon deal included
Droid Life reported on May 27, 2025, that Amazon had discounted unlocked Galaxy S25 Ultra models by as much as $250. The 256GB configuration was listed at about $1,049, down from a $1,299.99 reference price. Contemporary coverage gave the sale price as $1,049.99. The difference between those figures is rounding; neither should be mistaken for a permanent price change. Droid Life’s deal report and contemporary syndicated coverage document the promotion.

It was a direct price reduction, not a carrier-credit offer. The reported deal did not require a phone trade-in, carrier switch, new line, wireless plan, or activation. The advertised price was before sales tax, which varies by location.

The $250 saving was the maximum reported discount, not a guarantee that every color and storage capacity received the same cut. Amazon’s discounts varied by configuration. A later 512GB promotion was reported at about $1,119.99, or $300 below its listed price, and was marked expired. 9to5Toys’ report covers that separate offer.

Why the no-trade-in condition matters
A direct discount lowers the amount paid for the phone without tying the savings to a carrier account or a particular device being traded in. That can suit a buyer who wants to keep an existing phone, already has a wireless plan, or may change carriers. It also makes the phone’s price easier to compare: the discount is immediate rather than spread across future bill credits.
Carrier deals can still make sense if you were already planning to switch or add a line and meet the eligibility rules. Compare the full cost, not just a “free” device headline: include required plan charges, device payments, activation fees, taxes, and any bill credits you could forfeit by leaving early. Historical deal coverage distinguished direct unlocked discounts from carrier promotions that carried plan or activation conditions. Android Central’s S25 deal roundup provides that comparison.

Is the $250 offer available now?
Do not treat the May 2025 Amazon price as a live offer. The original promotion is historical, and a similar discount at another store does not prove Amazon has brought it back. No current Amazon listing and price are established here, so check the listing itself before ordering.
As of the pricing information available for this update, Samsung’s U.S. store showed one unlocked 256GB configuration at $999.99, $300 below its $1,299.99 reference price. The same cited product page listed 512GB at $1,119.99 and 1TB at $1,359.99. Prices and availability differed by color and configuration, and at least one configuration was shown as out of stock. These are configuration-specific displayed prices, not a guarantee of stock or a universal price. See Samsung’s U.S. Galaxy S25 Ultra page and its Titanium Gray configuration page for the displayed options.

Samsung also offers financing and optional Samsung Care+ through its product flow. A monthly payment is a way to pay, not an additional discount: the cited page showed $41.67 per month for 24 months on a $999.99 purchase. It displayed Care+ at $10 per month or $199 for two years, and theft-and-loss coverage at $15 per month or $279 for two years. Those add-ons are optional and can change the total cost.
Check the listing before you buy
- Choose the exact phone: make sure the product is the Galaxy S25 Ultra, not another S25-series model.
- Match storage and color: confirm whether the listing is 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB and check the price for that specific color.
- Verify unlocked status and condition: the product details should say “unlocked” and “new,” not renewed, refurbished, or open-box. Confirm the seller and fulfillment details as well.
- Check carrier compatibility: unlocked does not by itself establish compatibility with every carrier. Confirm that the exact U.S. model works on your intended network.
- Review the final checkout details: check the cart price, delivery estimate, seller, return policy, and sales tax before paying.
- Account for accessories: Samsung says a wall charger is not included with the phone. If you need one, include its cost in your budget. Samsung’s product page lists the included-items information.
When this deal structure is a good fit
Choose a direct unlocked discount when flexibility matters
A direct price cut is attractive if you do not have a trade-in, do not want to add a line, and prefer not to depend on months of carrier credits. Compare the exact unlocked model’s checkout price with Samsung’s price for the same storage and color; a lower headline discount is not necessarily a worse purchase if it produces a lower final cost.

Compare carrier offers only on total cost
A carrier promotion may win if you already want its service, can meet the trade-in and plan requirements, and expect to stay long enough to receive all credits. If those conditions would change your plan or limit your ability to leave, the advertised device savings may not represent your actual savings.

Consider Samsung direct for its specific advantages
Samsung’s store may be preferable if its price is lower for the configuration you want, you value a Samsung-exclusive color or direct support, or you have a trade-in that materially reduces your cost. Treat financing and Care+ as separate decisions from the phone’s purchase price.
