The FTC’s September 2026 refund listing features Amazon Refunds, tied to the Amazon Prime settlement. The FTC announced on September 17 that millions of additional consumers could receive automatic payments, with that expanded phase scheduled to begin October 1. The listing does not mean every Prime customer will be paid, and it cannot confirm any individual’s eligibility or payment status.

Which FTC refund program is listed for September 2026?

The Federal Trade Commission’s active refund-program list labels the Amazon Refunds program “September 2026.” It is part of the Amazon Prime settlement, and Amazon administers the redress program. The month on the FTC’s index is not the start date for the expanded payments: the FTC’s September 17 announcement said that phase was scheduled to begin October 1, 2026.

The FTC said the September 2025 settlement provides for up to $1.5 billion in consumer redress, plus a $1 billion civil penalty. In its September 17, 2026 announcement, the agency said more than $845 million in redress payments had been issued as of that month.

Who may receive an automatic payment?

The September 17 update describes two usage groups. Benefit counts are part of the settlement’s eligibility categories; they do not, by themselves, establish that a particular person qualifies. Individual determinations depend on the settlement records and administration.

Group What the FTC announcement says Payment detail
Earlier redress phase Consumers who used fewer than 10 Prime benefits during a one-year period Previously eligible for refunds of up to $51
Expanded phase Millions of additional consumers who used 11 to 20 Prime benefits during a one-year period Automatic redress scheduled to begin October 1, 2026

The announcement does not say that every customer in either usage group will receive a payment, nor does it give a public lookup result for named individuals.

How much could eligible consumers receive?

The revised order raises the maximum total payment from $51 to $200; that is a cap, not a promised payment amount. The FTC said consumers who accepted prior payments could qualify for an additional payment of up to $149 if the required threshold for consumer-accepted payments is not reached by February 2027. That conditional supplemental round was scheduled to begin by April 2027. The announcement does not say that everyone will receive the additional payment or the full $200.

Do recipients need to apply, and how are payments sent?

For the expanded payments, the FTC said consumers do not need to submit a claim, respond to a notice, or complete another form. The announced payment methods are Venmo, PayPal, or a mailed check. The release does not establish whether a particular person has been issued or accepted a payment, which method is on file, or when that person will receive money.

How to avoid refund scams

The FTC says it is not contacting people about refunds in this Amazon matter, and Amazon will never ask for money to obtain a refund. The agency’s general refund guidance also warns that the FTC will not threaten consumers, tell them to transfer money to get a refund, or promise them a prize.

  • Do not pay a fee or transfer money to release a refund.
  • Do not rely on unsolicited messages or links to verify eligibility or payment details. Use the official FTC program information instead.
  • Be wary of anyone claiming to be the FTC and demanding action about this Amazon refund.

Where can you check program information?

Read the FTC’s September 17 announcement for the expanded categories, payment methods, and timing, and consult the agency’s active refund-program listing. The FTC says Amazon administers the program; the public information does not provide a personalized eligibility or payment-status check.
