The sale was scheduled for September 23, 2024, in Los Angeles; the bids reported before the auction were not confirmed final prices, and the highlighted Central Perk couch and sign were reproductions—not original set pieces.
What was offered at the Friends anniversary auction?

Other highlighted pieces included apartment signs, a recreation of the Geller Cup Trophy, and Joey’s handwritten speech for Monica and Chandler’s wedding. The report does not establish the provenance of every lot, so its descriptions alone do not show whether other pieces were used on screen.
Were the Central Perk couch and sign original props?
No. The 10News report specifically described both the full-size orange couch and the Central Perk café sign as studio-made reproductions. They were recreations, not identified as original set pieces. The report does not provide lot-level provenance or condition details that would support broader claims about the collection.

The sale was scheduled for September 23, 2024, at 10 a.m. Pacific in Los Angeles. The figures below were estimates and then-current bids reported before the sale; they are not verified closing prices.
| Item | Estimate | Reported then-current bid |
|---|---|---|
| Studio-made Central Perk couch reproduction | $2,000–$3,000 | $8,000 |
| Studio-made Central Perk café sign reproduction | $500–$700 | $4,500 |
| Rachel Green sweater | Not stated in the 10News report | $4,000 |
10News did not report final sale results for these items. A then-current bid can change before an auction closes and should not be treated as the amount a buyer ultimately paid.

What should buyers check when comparing memorabilia?
For any auction lot, the listing and its supporting documentation matter more than a familiar character or prop name. Check the specific lot record for:
- What the item is: distinguish a screen-used piece from a studio-made reproduction or another type of collectible.
- Provenance: look for documentation linking the item to the production, rather than relying on a general collection description.
- Condition: review the stated condition and any available photographs or inspection information.
- Price status: separate the estimate and any live bid from the final result.
- Delivery terms: confirm shipping, pickup, and any related costs in the actual auction listing.
The 10News account establishes that the couch and café sign were reproductions and reports selected pre-sale figures, but it does not supply complete lot records, condition reports, transaction results or delivery terms.

Is the Friends auction still open?
No. The report concerns a historical sale scheduled for September 23, 2024, not an active auction. It does not establish whether any particular item later sold, what its final price was, or whether it is available elsewhere now.
