The free 2025 MLB playoff template described by HowtoExcel.net is a downloadable Excel bracket for tracking games and predicting series winners. Its publisher says you can change seeds and wild-card positions, enter how many games each team will win, and have the predicted winner advance. The 2025 postseason is complete, so use the workbook as a historical bracket or prediction exercise—not as a current-season guide.
What the Excel template does
HowtoExcel.net published the template on September 27, 2025. The page describes a workbook designed to track the postseason and let users make series predictions. According to the publisher, users enter the number of games they expect each team to win; the predicted series winner is highlighted and appears in the next round. The bracket is fixed rather than reseeded, consistent with the page’s description of the format.
The published preview used standings reflected on September 26, before the regular season ended. The author said the standings would be updated afterward and that users could adjust seeds and wild-card positions themselves. Treat that preview as a snapshot, not the final 2025 field. The publisher’s feature descriptions have not been independently verified, and the page’s download link has not been confirmed to work.

How to use it for predictions
- Open the HowtoExcel.net article and follow its download link if it is available.
- Review the team slots and seeds. Adjust seeds or wild-card positions if the workbook’s entries do not match the field you want to represent.
- For each series, enter your prediction for the number of games each team will win, as described by the publisher.
- Check the highlighted winner and the next-round slot. These are described workbook behaviors, not independently tested results.
- Save a separate copy for each person’s picks. HowtoExcel.net suggests comparing the predictions after the playoffs.
How the file relates to the completed 2025 postseason
Major League Baseball’s 2025 field had 12 playoff teams: six from the American League and six from the National League. The rounds were the Wild Card Series, Division Series, League Championship Series, and World Series. MLB announced the field on September 28, 2025; the template page’s September 26 standings preview therefore predates the locked field.
For the actual 2025 teams, seeds, matchups, dates, and results, use MLB’s official postseason hub and its 2025 playoff-field announcement. This distinction matters if you are using an older workbook: a prediction is not a record of the final results, and an early standings snapshot may not match the completed bracket.
