Its current native gas token is FRAX—the asset formerly called FXS—not frxETH. You can bridge from Ethereum to Fraxtal in a few minutes according to Frax’s documentation, but the standard route back takes seven days; Frax Ferry is documented as a 24–48-hour alternative.
What is Fraxtal?
Fraxtal is an EVM-equivalent rollup in the Frax Finance ecosystem. Frax describes it as using the OP Stack for its smart-contract platform and execution environment. In practical terms, that means Fraxtal is designed to support Ethereum-compatible applications and transactions while operating as a separate network from Ethereum mainnet.

Frax presents the network as infrastructure for its broader ecosystem. That description is the project’s own characterization; it does not, by itself, establish independent assessments of Fraxtal’s security, decentralization, performance, or application availability.
Which token do you need for Fraxtal gas?
Fraxtal’s current native gas asset is FRAX. Frax’s documentation says it is used to pay for blockspace. WFRAX is the ERC-20 representation of native FRAX on Fraxtal; it is distinct from the native asset used as gas.

The names have changed, which explains conflicting descriptions on older pages. FXS was renamed FRAX, and the North Star hardfork made FRAX the network’s gas token. The former FRAX stablecoin was renamed Legacy Frax Dollar. Meanwhile, frxETH remains a separate ETH-related asset: it was Fraxtal’s initial gas token, but no longer serves that role after the hardfork. Frax’s current token documentation lists frxETH and sfrxETH separately from FRAX and WFRAX.
For any transaction, make sure your wallet is connected to Fraxtal and that you have the correct gas asset on that network. Check Frax’s current Fraxtal documentation for token and network details rather than relying on an address copied from an old guide; addresses are operational details that can change or be confused with bridged tokens.

How do you bridge to and from Fraxtal?
Bridging moves assets between Ethereum and Fraxtal. Frax’s bridge documentation describes Ethereum-to-Fraxtal deposits as usually taking a few minutes. The standard withdrawal from Fraxtal to Ethereum is documented as taking seven days. Frax Ferry is described as an alternative return route with a 24–48-hour interval. These are operator-published timing estimates, not guarantees for an individual transfer.

| Route | Frax-documented timing | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Ethereum → Fraxtal, standard bridge | Usually a few minutes | Frax’s estimate; processing may vary. |
| Fraxtal → Ethereum, standard withdrawal | Seven days | The documented standard withdrawal interval. |
| Fraxtal → Ethereum, Frax Ferry | 24–48 hours | Frax describes this as a faster return route; the available documentation here does not establish a complete comparison of fees, liquidity, route availability, or risk. |
Before starting, confirm the source and destination networks, the asset you intend to move, and that you will retain FRAX on Fraxtal for gas. Use Frax’s official Fraxtal documentation to reach the current bridge and wallet instructions. A bridge transaction is not risk-free; verify the route and transaction details before approving it.

What are Flox and FXTL?
Flox and FXTL are part of Fraxtal’s incentive design. Frax’s 2024 roadmap described rewards related to activities such as paying gas, creating heavily used contracts, and participating in selected pools. That roadmap explains the intended design, not a guarantee that every activity qualifies or will earn a reward.
In a January 26, 2026 governance status update, Frax described FXTL as the primary Fraxtal incentive system while noting that FXTL conversion and Flox Capacitor deployment were not implemented or remained inactive. Do not assume a conversion, boost, claim, or payout is currently available based only on older descriptions. Check the project’s current official rules and contracts before acting on any incentive claim.

What Fraxtal’s description does—and does not—establish
Frax’s documentation establishes its stated architecture, token roles, and bridge timing descriptions. Those facts help explain how to use the network, but they are not an independent evaluation of it. The information cited here does not establish comparative fees, throughput, uptime, adoption, a complete security assessment, or whether a particular application or wallet works with Fraxtal. Verify any such detail from a current, relevant source before relying on it.
