You can no longer file a new claim for the FTC’s Fortnite refund program: the deadline was July 9, 2025. If you filed after February 14, 2025, the FTC says your claim is under review and you do not need to take further action right now. The FTC expects additional payments in 2026, but has not announced a specific date. Check the FTC’s current Fortnite refunds page for the latest status.

Can you still apply for a Fortnite refund?

No. The FTC closed the claim period on July 9, 2025, so you cannot start a new claim now. The program covered eligible U.S. consumers charged for unwanted V-Bucks or in-game items, including gear, llamas, or battle passes. Its eligibility rules are historical; they do not reopen the application window. The FTC program page is the current source for claim status.

Who was eligible while claims were open?

The FTC’s historical criteria covered people who experienced at least one of the following:

  • They were charged in-game currency for items they did not want between January 2017 and September 2022.
  • Their child charged their credit card without their knowledge between January 2017 and November 2018.
  • Their Fortnite account was locked between January 2017 and September 2022 after they complained to their credit card company about wrongful charges.

The person submitting a claim had to be at least 18. A parent or guardian had to submit a claim for someone younger. These criteria do not allow a new claim after the deadline. FTC eligibility details.

If you already filed, what happens next?

If you filed after February 14, 2025, the FTC says it is reviewing your claim and you do not need to take further action right now. It expects additional payments in 2026 after reviewing and validating claims. The FTC has not provided a fixed payment date for those claims, and public information cannot establish whether a particular claim will be approved or how much it would pay. Check the program page for updates.

If you filed by February 14, 2025, the FTC included valid claims received by that date in its earlier distributions. That does not establish an individual claim’s approval or payment status; contact the refund administrator for questions about your own claim.

How to check or ask about your payment

  1. Visit the official FTC Fortnite refunds page for the current program notice.
  2. For an individual claim or payment question, call the refund administrator at 1-833-915-0880. The FTC’s current program listing identifies Rust Consulting, Inc. as administrator.
  3. If your claim was approved, look for the payment through the method you selected when you filed.

The FTC says checks must be cashed within 90 days and PayPal payments accepted within 30 days. Those acceptance periods matter if you receive a payment; follow the instructions accompanying it. FTC payment announcement.

What the FTC has paid so far

The FTC reported that its June 2025 distribution sent 969,173 payments totaling more than $126 million to U.S. Fortnite players who had filed a valid claim by February 14, 2025. An earlier distribution, announced in 2025, included 629,344 payments totaling more than $72 million. These are program-wide totals, not a formula or estimate for any one claimant. The FTC also said $245 million from the Epic settlement was directed to consumer refunds. FTC’s June 2025 announcement.

How to avoid refund scams

Do not pay anyone to obtain an FTC refund, and do not provide sensitive financial information in response to an unsolicited message. The FTC says it never requires people to pay money or provide account information to get a refund. Ignore unsolicited links, texts, or offers to secure a payment for a fee; use the FTC page and the administrator’s listed phone number instead. FTC warning and FTC guidance on refund scams.

What the settlement addressed

The FTC described the settlement as resolving allegations that Epic Games used deceptive practices connected with unwanted purchases, allowed children to incur unauthorized charges, and blocked some users who disputed wrongful charges from accessing purchased content. This is the FTC’s account of the allegations and settlement context. FTC announcement.
