Epic Games is not sending every Fortnite player a $100 payment. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) administers refunds funded by Epic’s settlement, and the amount of an approved claim depends on factors including how many people file claims. The FTC sent 969,173 payments totaling more than $126 million in June 2025 to U.S. players with valid claims submitted by February 14, 2025. The claim deadline has passed; the FTC says it expects another round in 2026 after reviewing and validating claims, but has not announced a date or amount.
What are the Fortnite refunds?
The refunds are part of a consumer settlement between Epic Games and the FTC. The agency says the settlement addresses allegations that Epic charged players for unwanted purchases, allowed children to make unauthorized credit-card purchases, and blocked some people from accessing purchased content after they disputed charges. The FTC administers this consumer refund program; it is not a direct payment from Epic to every player.

The consumer refund program is separate from the settlement’s children’s privacy component. The FTC’s March 2023 announcement says the final order required Epic to pay $245 million for consumer refunds and separately imposed a $275 million penalty related to children’s privacy allegations. FTC announcement of the final order. Epic’s own December 2022 statement also described the two payments as separate; company-reported product changes should not be confused with refund eligibility.
How much will my refund be?
There is no guaranteed $100 award. The FTC says an approved claim’s amount depends on multiple factors, including how many people file claims. The June 2025 total does not establish what any individual claimant received, and the FTC has not announced a per-person amount for the next round.

In its June 25, 2025 release, the FTC said it was sending 969,173 checks and PayPal payments on June 25 and 26, following a December 2024 round of 629,344 payments totaling more than $72 million. The agency said cumulative refunds related to Epic’s billing practices had reached nearly $200 million. These are payment-round totals, not a promise of a particular amount to each claimant. Who was eligible to apply for a refund?
The FTC’s application criteria covered people connected to one of three situations:

- A player was charged in-game currency for items they did not want between January 2017 and September 2022.
- A child made credit-card charges without a parent’s knowledge between January 2017 and November 2018.
- A player’s account was locked between January 2017 and September 2022 after they complained to their credit-card company about wrongful charges.
The person submitting the claim had to be at least 18. For a younger player, a parent or guardian had to submit the form. Meeting an application criterion did not guarantee approval or a specific refund amount. See the FTC’s Fortnite Refunds page for the program’s eligibility and status information.
Can I still file a claim, and when will I get my refund?
No. The FTC says the deadline to submit a claim was July 9, 2025, and new claims are not being accepted. If you filed after February 14, 2025, the FTC says you do not need to take further action while it reviews and validates claims.

- If playing on a console platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch or Mobile) you need to link your Epic Games account to that gaming platform (one time) to redeem your gift card code
- The 16 digit code on the back of the card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly through your gaming platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, etc.)
- Note: Nintendo devices do not support Fortnite Shared Wallet, so V-Bucks purchased using your account balance will not show up on your Nintendo device. However, if you purchase items in the web Item Shop — or another platform where you play Fortnite — those items will be available in your Locker across all platforms.

The agency expects additional payments in 2026 after that review is complete. It has not specified when the next payments will go out, how many people will receive them, or how much they will total. An individual claimant’s timing and amount are therefore not established by the current announcement.
How do I collect a payment I already received?
Claimants selected a payment method when filing. The FTC says recipients must cash a check within 90 days or accept a PayPal payment within 30 days. For questions about the refund, contact the administrator using the current contact details on the FTC’s official Fortnite refund page. The FTC’s June 2025 release identified Rust Consulting, Inc. as the administrator and listed [email protected], but the current program page is the appropriate place to verify contact information.

How can I avoid Fortnite refund scams?
Use the FTC’s official program page rather than links in unsolicited texts, emails, or social-media messages. The FTC says it will never demand money, make threats, tell you to transfer money, or promise you a prize. A request to pay a fee to file a claim or release a refund is a scam. Do not share account or payment credentials with an unverified sender. The FTC’s consumer alert about Fortnite refunds provides additional guidance.
