Argyle said she sold because a neighbouring home looked into her children’s bedrooms, telling the outlet: “They destroyed our privacy.” That is her account of the impact, not an independent finding about the planning dispute.
What sold, and what the sale report establishes
PerthNow reported that the land sold for $2.9 million in June 2025 and that the weatherboard house structure was sold separately. The report does not identify the buyer, state the sale contract terms, or establish whether the house was relocated.
The listing presented the site as a development opportunity. As described by PerthNow, it cited in-principle approval for three lots and said R60 zoning could allow six lots of 150 square metres each. Those are claims about the advertised potential; they do not establish that six lots were approved, subdivided or built, or what plans the buyer pursued.
Why Argyle said she sold
Argyle told PerthNow that her family did not want to live with the neighbouring home looking into her children’s bedrooms. She described the effect as “They destroyed our privacy.” The words are her characterization of the experience; the reported planning and tribunal outcomes do not amount to an independent finding that the neighbours destroyed privacy.

- Essential economics the way they think how to
Asked about the listing’s development language despite her opposition to the neighbouring project, Argyle said: “I know it sounds ironic but (the advert discusses what is possible under) the planning laws.” Her explanation distinguishes what the listing said could be possible on her land from her objections to the neighbours’ proposal.
How the neighbouring-home dispute ended
Annabelle and Stephen Purser sought approval for a two-storey home beside Argyle’s property. The City of Nedlands rejected their proposal twice, although planning staff advised approval. After mediation, the neighbours changed the design; earlier reporting said the amended plans included increased privacy screening.

The neighbours then appealed to the State Administrative Tribunal (SAT) and secured the right to build. Argyle sought to participate as an interested third party and later challenged the outcome in the Supreme Court. PerthNow’s 2022 and 2025 reports say that challenge failed. The council’s earlier refusals and the later appeal outcome are separate stages: the refusals did not prevent the neighbours from ultimately obtaining the right to build.
The 2025 sale report also said Argyle recused herself from the council vote because of her interest, while reporting that she texted a councillor who supported the application. Those reported details alone do not establish unlawful conduct or a finding against her.
Reported legal costs
Argyle told PerthNow that her legal costs from the failed challenge were $90,000. The same report put the council’s legal bill at $30,000. These are reported figures, not amounts independently verified by invoices or an accounting document in the coverage.
