Michigan revised its incentive offer for Ford’s BlueOval Battery Park Michigan in Marshall in 2024 to reflect a smaller project. TechTimes reported that projected public incentives fell from about $1.03 billion to $409.1 million—a reduction of roughly $621.9 million, or 60%. Those are reported projections, not a record of money Ford received.
What changed in Michigan’s incentive offer?
Ford said Michigan revised its incentive offer to match the reduced scope of BlueOval Battery Park Michigan, its planned lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery facility in Marshall. Ford’s 2024 announcement confirms the change in the offer but does not give the before-and-after dollar amounts. Ford’s July 2024 announcement
The specific incentive figures come from TechTimes’ July 9, 2024 report: projected public incentives were revised from approximately $1.03 billion to $409.1 million. The difference is about $621.9 million, which is roughly 60% of the earlier projection—not exactly half. These figures describe projected incentives; the cited reporting does not establish how much was paid or remains available.
How did the project’s planned scope shrink?
TechTimes compared the original project plan with the smaller version described in 2024. The investment, capacity and job figures below are reported plans and targets, not verified outcomes.

What is the plant’s reported status now?
In a June 17, 2026 update, Ford said the Marshall site had welcomed more than 500 employees, planned to reach 800 by year-end, and retained a longer-term target of 1,700 American jobs. Ford also said the plant was on track to ship LFP batteries in 2026 for a future affordable midsize electric truck. These are company-reported milestones and plans; the update does not confirm that the planned shipments later occurred. Ford’s June 2026 update

Is the later federal criticism part of the 2024 funding change?
No. In September 2026, U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy criticized Ford’s use of technology licensed from China’s CATL at the Marshall facility. That was a later federal policy dispute, not evidence of why Michigan revised its incentive offer in 2024. The department’s announcement quotes Duffy’s position and should be understood as his criticism, not as an independent assessment of the project: U.S. Department of Transportation, September 8, 2026.
