Forbes’ North American 30 Under 30 class of 2025 includes 600 honorees across 20 industries, selected from more than 10,000 candidates, according to the magazine’s December 2024 overview. The class spans founders, creators and other young leaders; Forbes says 69% are founders or cofounders and that the group’s companies have raised more than $3.6 billion cumulatively. These figures describe Forbes’ North American list, not its separate regional editions.

What the Forbes 30 Under 30 2025 list covers

Forbes describes the 2025 North American cohort as its 14th annual class. Its editors and expert judges reviewed more than 10,000 candidates and selected 600 people across 20 industries, evaluating candidates on impact, financials and creativity. Forbes presents those as broad selection criteria, not a detailed scoring formula. Forbes’ December 4, 2024 announcement is the source for the class figures below.

“Forbes 30 Under 30 2025” can refer to different regional editions. The figures and examples here concern North America; they should not be applied to Forbes lists for Asia, Europe or other regions.

What changed in the 2025 categories

Forbes says it replaced the Enterprise and Consumer Tech categories with AI and Transportation. The shift makes two areas more visible in the class, but the category change alone does not show that every honoree works directly in those fields or that the list ranks them against one another.

The overview’s examples include AI, electric-vehicle charging, card security and satellite concepts. The honorees’ work therefore ranges beyond the narrow meaning of “startup founder”: the class also includes artists, creators, researchers and other leaders. Forbes does not provide a common impact metric in the overview that would make those contributions directly comparable.

Ideas from honorees: perspectives, not predictions

Forbes’ December 20, 2024 feature includes individual views that illustrate the range of work represented. They are personal opinions and forecasts, not evidence of a shared position among honorees or proof that a prediction will come true. Forbes’ feature on what the class is thinking about includes these examples:

  • Electric vehicles: Xeal cofounder and Transportation & Mobility honoree Alexander Isaacson said, “Unlimited possibility is how I see electric vehicles.”
  • Clothing resale: Treet cofounder and Retail & Ecommerce honoree Sonia Yang predicted that consumers would increasingly ask brands, “Can I resell my clothes with them?”
  • Philanthropy: Temelio founder and Social Impact honoree Maya Kuppermann argued that foundations can act faster and deploy capital faster than government.
  • Artificial intelligence: Molly Mielke, sole partner at Moth Fund and a Venture Capital callout, described spending significant time around AI builders. Creator Drew Afualo offered a contrasting personal view, saying she does not use AI for personal business gain and that technology can “cannibalize[] art.”

How to interpret the list

The overview offers a snapshot of Forbes’ selection and the profile of its chosen cohort, not a complete evaluation of every young leader or a guide to investing in the businesses mentioned. The 69% founder/cofounder share and the cumulative funding figure indicate the prominence of entrepreneurship in this class; neither establishes that a company is profitable, that funding will translate into lasting results or that an honoree’s work is financially suitable for a reader.

For readers comparing honorees, a more useful approach is to consider the industry, the kind of contribution and the specific impact claimed rather than assume the list supplies a single ranking. Forbes’ overview does not include full biographies or a detailed judging rubric, so it cannot answer every question about an individual’s track record or how finalists were scored.
