Flyhomes’ $150M Series C: What It Funded—and What Changed

Flyhomes’ 2021 $150 million Series C backed planned U.S. expansion and a homebuying model built around cash offers and buying before selling. In 2025, Real Brokerage acquired its search portal while Flyhomes said financing products continued through partners.

Flyhomes announced a $150 million Series C on June 10, 2021, to expand its homebuying and financing services in six named markets and pursue additional U.S. expansion. The round was co-led by Norwest Venture Partners and Battery Ventures. The company’s 2021 pitch joined brokerage and mortgage services with cash-backed offers and a program for buying a new home before selling an existing one. That is historical context: in 2025, Flyhomes said Real Brokerage acquired its home-search portal and related technology, while its financing products continued through partner networks.

What Flyhomes announced in 2021

Flyhomes said the $150 million Series C would help it scale service in Seattle, the San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, San Diego, Portland and Boston, as well as open additional U.S. markets. These were expansion plans in the announcement, not confirmation that every planned rollout happened.

The company described an end-to-end homebuying model that combined brokerage and mortgage services. Two products were central to that pitch: Cash Offer, intended to help buyers make an all-cash offer using Flyhomes financing, and Buy Before You Sell, which was described as allowing a homeowner to buy and move into a next home before selling the current one.

Flyhomes’ release said it would purchase a home if a buyer using Cash Offer had to back out. That is a description of the 2021 product announcement, not a statement of current terms or a guarantee about present-day eligibility.

Who invested, and what the $150 million figure means

Flyhomes said Norwest Venture Partners and Battery Ventures co-led the round. Participants named in the company announcement included Balyasny Asset Management, Fifth Wall, Trustbridge Partners, Camber Creek, Zillow co-founder Spencer Rascoff, and existing investors Andreessen Horowitz and Canvas Ventures. Norwest’s Lisa Wu and Battery’s Roger Lee were to join Flyhomes’ board.

The $150 million was the size of the Series C, not Flyhomes’ valuation, revenue, total funding, or the price of a home. GeekWire reported at the time that Flyhomes had raised nearly $200 million in total equity funding; it also reported that the company declined to provide updated valuation and revenue metrics. Flyhomes’ release did not state a valuation.

What Flyhomes said its model had achieved

Flyhomes’ 2021 release reported $2.6 billion in home closings since the company began operations in 2016. GeekWire separately reported more than $2.6 billion in home value bought and sold, citing the company. These are company-reported historical figures, not independently audited measures in the cited coverage.

Flyhomes also said buyers using its service were four times more likely to win than buyers working with traditional agents. The release’s footnote described this as Flyhomes’ analysis of offers on which it submitted a bid in 2021; the cited sources do not provide an independent validation of the comparison. The company also said users won without being the highest bidder more than half the time.

For savings, Flyhomes reported average savings of 2.4% against the highest competing offer, with savings reaching as high as 10%. The release attributed those figures to Flyhomes’ internal data from 2020. They are historical company-reported results, not a promise of savings for a current buyer. Win-rate claims and savings figures measure different things, and neither establishes what a particular buyer might achieve today.

What changed in 2025

In a July 1, 2025 update, Flyhomes co-founder and CEO Tushar Garg said Real Brokerage had acquired Flyhomes’ AI-powered home-search portal and related technology assets. Garg said the portal would remain live through close of business July 2, 2025. The acquisition changed the status of the search technology; it does not mean Real Brokerage acquired every Flyhomes financing product.

In the same update, Flyhomes said Cash Offers and Buy Before You Sell financing continued through partner networks, with availability varying by location and licensing. Flyhomes’ current About Us page describes its focus as Buy Before You Sell solutions delivered with partner agents and loan officers rather than in-house agents and loan officers. The page reports availability in all 50 states; actual product availability and eligibility may still depend on local licensing and the applicable partner program.

What homeowners should check before choosing a buy-before-sell program

The 2021 funding announcement does not provide a complete set of current program terms or prices. If you are considering a service that lets you buy before selling, compare the actual financing mechanism and written terms rather than relying on the product label.

  • How the purchase is funded: Determine whether the offer uses a bridge loan, early access to home equity, a cash-offer arrangement, or another structure.
  • Total cost: Ask for all fees, interest, and other financing costs, and clarify which costs apply if the home sale takes longer than expected.
  • Timing and repayment: Check when repayment is due, what triggers it, and whether there are extension costs or other consequences if your current home does not sell promptly.
  • Eligibility and location: Confirm that the program and the relevant licensed partners can serve your property’s state and that you meet the underwriting requirements.
  • Sale contingencies: Understand what happens if your existing home sells for less than expected, takes longer to sell, or does not sell on the anticipated schedule.

Request current disclosures and written terms from the provider and any licensed financing partners before making an offer. The sources cited here do not establish current Flyhomes prices, complete program conditions, or whether a specific buyer or property qualifies.
