Finnair offered passengers booked to travel on July 2, July 4, or July 7, 2025 a free change of travel date because planned industrial action was expected to disrupt essential ground services at Helsinki Airport. The offer applied to bookings on those dates—not to all Finnair tickets—and the online change option depended on ticket conditions. The dates have passed, so this was a historical exception, not a current rebooking offer.
Which Finnair travel dates qualified?
In a June 25, 2025 notice, Finnair named flights scheduled for July 2, July 4, and July 7, 2025. The Finnish Aviation Union (IAU) had announced industrial action expected to affect essential ground services at Helsinki Airport. Finnair anticipated significant operational effects across the three dates.
Finnair said it operated over 900 flights across those dates, an operational estimate stated by the airline in 2025. It warned that a substantial number could be cancelled if the strike proceeded. That was a forecast, not a confirmed final count of cancellations. Read Finnair’s June 25, 2025 notice.
What did the free date change cover?
Finnair’s announcement said: “Customers with bookings on these days can change their travel date free of charge to avoid disruptions caused by the strike.” The exception was limited to customers booked on the three named dates; it did not change the ordinary rules for every Finnair fare or booking.

How could eligible passengers make a change?
Finnair directed customers to Manage Booking if their ticket type allowed changes there. The notice did not say that every ticket could be changed online, so the available route depended on the ticket’s conditions. Customers whose booking could not be changed in Manage Booking would need to use the contact options in their booking or Finnair’s guidance.
Is this offer still available?
No. The eligible travel dates were in July 2025 and are past as of October 8, 2026. A separate Finnair notice covered June 17 and 19, 2025, but that was a different, earlier date window—not an extension of the July offer. Finnair’s June 2025 notice for the earlier dates.

Do not rely on the 2025 notice for a present-day trip. Check the conditions attached to your booking and Finnair’s current travel guidance for any newly announced disruption waiver. Whether you can change a current ticket without a fee depends on the rules that apply to that booking or on a current, date-specific exception.
