There is no defensible, verified ranking of the “top” Filipino agribusiness entrepreneurs in the available sources. A Scribd-hosted student document with that title names people across several sectors, but it does not explain how they were selected or compare them using consistent measures. Better-documented profiles of Luis Bausa and Cherrie Atilano show two distinct paths: building a diversified farm that also offers training, and developing agriculture initiatives around sustainability and inclusive rural economies.
Why this is a list of examples, not a ranking
“Top” could mean revenue, farm size, exports, innovation, or community impact. The student document does not provide a selection method or comparable evidence for those measures, and its biographical and business-scale claims are not independently verified here. It is best treated as a starting point for identifying possible subjects, not as a definitive list.

A broader view of agribusiness also helps explain why its subjects vary. The Department of Agriculture’s Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Service frames the sector as involving supply chains, technology, and the development of farmer and fisherfolk enterprises in Inspiring Agribusiness Stories — KADIWA Webinar Series. That scope extends beyond operating a farm to include processing, inputs, marketing, and training.
Names and business areas in the student document
The document names the following people and companies. The business descriptions below are what that document attributes to them; they should not be read as independently verified profiles or current measures of business scale.

The student document says La Fuerta produced five to six million boxes of Cavendish bananas and exported to Middle Eastern and Asian markets. That is the document’s claim, not an independently confirmed current production figure; it should not be used as a present-day measure of the company’s scale without company or government confirmation.
Better-documented examples of agribusiness approaches
Luis Bausa: a diversified farm paired with training
A Philippine Council for Agriculture and Fisheries profile dated January 25, 2024, reports that Luis Bausa bought 2,000 square meters of land in 2016 using savings from tutoring and speaking engagements. It says he started with seven trees and later developed a 4,000-square-meter farm with high-value crops, fruit trees, ornamentals, native chickens, rabbits, vertical farming, and hydroponics. The profile also reported that Bausa Integrated Farm and Training Center offered four technical-vocational courses and had applied for learning-site recognition at that time. These are details reported in that dated profile, not confirmation that every status remains current. Read the PCAF profile of Luis Bausa.

The model illustrates how an agricultural enterprise can combine production with education. Bausa’s focus on soil management is also explicit in a Filipino-language statement quoted by PCAF: “Kaya dapat si farmer nagte-training and dapat nagpapa-soil analysis every after harvest kasi no matter how good your farm inputs are, kung ang lupa mo ay di maganda, hindi maibibigay at makukuha yung tamang dami ng yield,”
Cherrie Atilano: sustainability and inclusive value chains
Rainforest Alliance’s profile, last updated July 13, 2026, describes Cherrie Atilano as founder and CEO of AGREA. It says AGREA works on sustainable and regenerative agriculture, inclusive value chains, and resilient rural economies. The profile also describes AGREA Foundation’s work with communities and partners on rural development, women’s economic empowerment, and youth leadership in agriculture. This is a different kind of agribusiness leadership from a farm-scale profile: its stated emphasis is on how agricultural systems and rural communities develop. See the Rainforest Alliance profile of Cherrie Atilano.

How to compare agribusiness entrepreneurs fairly
A useful comparison starts by identifying what each enterprise does in the value chain, then asks what evidence supports claims about its scale or outcomes. Names alone do not establish business performance.
- Sector and product: What is grown, raised, processed, or sold?
- Value-chain role: Does the enterprise produce goods, process them, distribute inputs, market products, or provide training?
- Market and geography: Where does it operate, and which customers or markets does it serve?
- Evidence and date: Is a scale claim backed by a dated company, government, or other reliable source, and does it describe a current or historical figure?
- Stated outcomes: Are sustainability, farmer development, or community benefits described by a source, and what exactly does that source establish?
Agricultural leadership beyond private companies
Not every influential figure in agriculture is a private agribusiness entrepreneur. The Department of Agriculture biography of William Dar describes his crop research and agricultural leadership, including his role leading ICRISAT from 2000 to 2014 and collaboration with Philippine agencies on crop technologies. It reports that ICRISAT funding rose from US$21 million in 2000 to US$85 million in 2014 during his tenure. Those figures refer to funding and investment into ICRISAT, not Dar’s personal income or a measure of entrepreneurial success. See the Department of Agriculture biography of William Dollente Dar.
