FIFA Rivals is a free-to-play, officially licensed arcade football game for iOS and Android, developed with Mythical Games and announced as worldwide on 13 June 2025. Its “digital ownership” feature concerns certain in-game NFT assets—not ownership of the footballers, clubs, artwork or intellectual property represented by them. Mythical’s terms also say those NFTs have no functionality outside the game and do not guarantee a resale market or value.
What is FIFA Rivals?
FIFA Rivals is a mobile football game built around arcade play rather than football simulation. FIFA and Mythical Games announced their collaboration on 22 November 2024. The launch plan described a free-to-play game for iOS and Android in which players can build and manage a club, improve lineups and compete in real-time player-versus-player matches. FIFA announced worldwide release on 13 June 2025, saying the game was available through the Apple App Store and Google Play. Store availability can vary by country, and the announcement does not establish current availability in every region.

FIFA described controls intended for mainstream mobile gamers, with skill moves, trick shots and signature plays. The launch announcement also presented some digital collectibles as tradable through the Mythical Marketplace. FIFA’s 2024 announcement said the game would use in-game and web marketplaces supported by Mythos blockchain technology for buying, selling and trading football stars. These are descriptions of the announced product and marketplace model; they are not a guarantee that a particular marketplace is accessible or active for every player now.
What does “digital ownership” mean in FIFA Rivals?
Under the FIFA Rivals Terms of Use, buying a Game NFT means owning the NFT that underlies that game asset, with ownership and transfers governed by the applicable smart contract and the terms. That is a narrower claim than owning the real-world player or the intellectual property shown in the asset.

- The NFT: The asset represented by the NFT is subject to the smart contract and Mythical’s terms.
- The game rights: Use is limited to permitted in-game functionality and approved marketplace activity. A valid registered game account is required to use an NFT or transfer/import it into the game.
- The underlying IP: Buying an NFT does not give the buyer ownership of the intellectual property embodied in it, such as rights to a player’s likeness, a club’s identity or artwork.
In practical terms, the NFT is not an unrestricted digital collectible that carries its game function wherever you take it. Mythical’s terms say a purchased Game NFT has no use, functionality or playability outside FIFA Rivals. Its utility therefore depends on the game environment and the operator’s rules.
Can you sell FIFA Rivals NFTs?
The terms allow for transfers through approved marketplace activity, but they do not promise that a secondary marketplace will be available in a particular location or at a particular time. Nor do they guarantee that an NFT can be sold, that a buyer will be found or that it will retain any particular resale value. Marketplace access and restrictions may vary by jurisdiction.

Mythical’s terms state that NFTs have no inherent value and should not be purchased with an expectation of profit. Treat any purchase as spending on a game asset whose use and transfer options depend on FIFA Rivals, approved services and applicable restrictions—not as an investment with a predictable exit price.
Transactions may also involve costs. The terms say third-party service providers may charge transaction fees; bridging an asset out through Ethereum may require ETH to pay gas. These costs depend on the service and transaction and are not a guaranteed fixed fee.

What was announced with OneFootball?
On 13 June 2025, OneFootball and Mythical Games announced a multi-year collaboration. Their release described planned FIFA Rivals content such as limited-edition in-game kits and collectible boots, with some items tied to physical merchandise releases and OneFootball campaigns. The announcement does not identify specific physical products, establish that they are currently available, or document an affiliate or referral program. It is evidence of a partnership announcement, not a verified retail offer.
What FIFA’s reported figures do—and do not—show
In a 2026 account of a global World Cup 2026 digital activation, FIFA reported 3.5 million FIFA Rivals downloads and more than 25 million goals. Those are figures attributed to FIFA in that report and context; they should not be read as verified current lifetime totals for the game. FIFA’s report is available here.
