FICO says it plans to eliminate approximately 15% of positions across the company as part of a restructuring. The company began notifying affected employees during the week of October 5, 2026, and expects the plan to be substantially complete by the end of the third quarter of fiscal 2027. Its October 6 Form 8-K does not state an exact number of affected employees or identify specific teams, managers, or locations.
How many jobs could be affected?
FICO’s Form 8-K says the plan involves eliminating “approximately 15% of positions across the Company.” The filing does not translate that percentage into a headcount. Reuters reported that FICO had 3,811 employees at the end of September 2025 and estimated that the reduction could affect about 570 workers. That figure is Reuters’ estimate, not a headcount disclosed by FICO.
FICO’s filing does not name affected departments, individual leaders, or locations, so the company-wide percentage should not be read as confirmation that any particular role or office is affected.
Why is FICO restructuring?
FICO says the plan is intended to reduce organizational layers, simplify its operating structure, optimize processes and tools, and integrate AI-driven product development. Those are the company’s stated aims; the filing does not detail which roles may change or say how many reductions are connected to AI. It therefore does not establish that AI caused a particular share of the planned layoffs.

When will notifications and layoffs happen?
FICO says management committed to the plan on October 1, 2026, and affected employees began receiving notifications during the week of October 5. The company expects the plan to be substantially complete by the end of the third quarter of fiscal 2027. That is a forward-looking estimate, not confirmation that the reductions have already been completed.
What will the restructuring cost?
FICO expects approximately $27.0 million in pretax charges in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2026, primarily for severance and related costs. The company says substantially all of these charges are expected to result in future cash expenditures.

How does this compare with FICO’s prior workforce reduction?
FICO’s fiscal 2025 Form 10-K separately reported $10.9 million in employee-separation costs associated with eliminating 226 positions during that fiscal year. That was a prior event and should not be combined with the approximately 15% reduction announced in October 2026.
